Recharging Mum’s Batteries

When it comes to being a mom, there’s a lot of risk, and a lot of reward. Time spent with our children is precious, and every second is a memory in the making. However, it can also be worrisome, as you know that the random and chaotic nature of the universe could lead to disaster for you and your child. With these conflicting sentiments in mind, it can feel like the latter is unfair, and it can be soul crushing to deal with that possibility, so sometimes you just need a break. And who can blame you? After all, it’s your sworn duty to protect another living person who, because of their young age, is basically trying to get themselves injured in a number of ways, and that pressure adds up over time. Your back hurts, your neck is stiff, and boy could you use a massage. Here are just a few ways to get away for awhile to recharge your batteries.

First and foremost, let’s talk about thrills. While we can agree that stress is the root cause of your turmoil, that doesn’t mean all you need is rest. No, far from it. What anyone needs to unwind varies wildly based on a number of factors. Therefore, you may be the kind of high energy mom who needs to experience some thrilling adventure to de-stress. If that’s you, one way you can de-stress is by taking to the snowy mountainside with a snowmobile. Check this video for an important safety tip before you take off, though. Safety first! Another way to get your adrenaline fix is to go water skiing. Similar to a snowmobile in concept, water skiing couldn’t be more different. For one thing, slowing down means sinking through your impromptu road, as the high speeds of a jet ski is all that keeps you gliding effortlessly across the water’s surface. For another, it’s one of many activities that’s best at the beach in the heat of Summer, meaning that it fits more neatly into your average vacation. Likewise, speedboats can be fun and a great way to spend your Summer afternoons. Or, along the lines of water skiing, there’s paragliding, which is trailing behind a jet ski, not with skis, but with a hang glider. Getting the blood pumping may be just what you need to relax.

For a more brief, less dangerous getaway, consider pampering yourself. Why not take a trip to a local spa in order to have your stress melted in the sauna, or you could get a massage. Simply getting away for a bit helps a ton, but it’s all the better when you’re treated like royalty, soothing the body, as well as the mind. Likewise, simply taking a nice long hot bath can do wonders for your body and mind in a pinch. You just need about an hour for this one, as opposed to it being an all day thing. The choice is ultimately up to you, however, to do what you will to turn your day around.
