Weddings have a reputation for all being much of a muchness. The summer all my friends got married, we gathered at champagne toasts, commenting on how beautiful the brides were, how gorgeous the colour scheme was and how lovely the flowers looked. Our partners nodded obligingly, while making comments that every wedding is the same.
I don’t agree, of course, as a woman the intricacies of the themes stand out to me. The different cuts the bridal gowns come in, how the tables are decorated and all the different colour schemes. I spent months perusing wedding magazines, trying to plan my own wedding. The differences jump out at me, but I understand why they are less obvious to others.

Being able to print photos instantly at a wedding is a real novelty. Not only will your guests love it, you will too! It’s a fun way to celebrate you day and take away some less formal photos showing how much fun you’re having.
I can’t take the credit for this idea, my friends actually had a booth set up with props at their own wedding. The photographer was able to print images instantly, and we were then sent to stick them in a scrap book and write a special message to the newlyweds. It was such a fab idea, and I’m gutted I didn’t have it for my own wedding!
Book Bandaoke (a Karaoke Wedding Band)
What’s better than karaoke at a wedding? A live band playing your backing track, of course! Now there’s no reason to choose between having a band or karaoke, the band will help you live out all your karaoke dreams! You’ll also get the chance to pretend you’re a lead singer of your own band. We wanted this for our own wedding, until I realised my husband-to-be had no plans to allow anyone else to sing!
Hire an Ice Cream Van
A hot summer wedding needs something to help cool the guests with. And ice cream van is the perfect way to do that! Some companies specialise in attending weddings, with beautifully decorated ice cream vans to send to your venue. Pay a day rate and let your guests enjoy ninety-nines, sundaes and just a plain old cornet. Watch out for kids going back for their fourth or fifth helping though, no one wants to clean second hand chocolate ice cream off a wedding gown!
Arrange Celebrity Messages
For a special and unique way to thank your nearest and dearest for all their help with making your any special, involve a celeb (or two). Perhaps your best man’s hero is footballing icon, or bridesmaid has a crush on a soap star. Pay for your thank yous to be delivered by the favourite celebrities of your bridal party. It’ll be something they remember for sure.
