This month’s Glossybox was a particularly good haul with most items being full-sized products.
The Spectrum brush was the sneak peek that we all got before the boxes were posted out, so I was already excited July’s box well before it arrived.
It’s a lovely fluttery fan shape and is ideal for baking. There’s suggestions it can be used for highlighting, but I prefer something similar to a bigger version of a blending brush, I can see why a more seasoned pro would use it for highlighting though.
I was dubious of the setting powder when I saw it; my skin tone is hard to match and I normally use a translucent powder. Surprisingly, this powder is quite a good match for my skin at the moment (perhaps because it is quite light?). Under closer inspection, it should be quite a good match for lots of skin tones because it’s quite non-committal with its yellow undertones. Yellow brightens sallow tones and helps to cancel reds so I expect it to be pretty universal.
As someone who has masses of thick hair (but doesn’t like to style it often) these special hair ties that leave your hair kink-free are a real life-saver. I’ve tried cheaper versions of a similar product but they just don’t cut it. These bad boy are hard wearing and sturdy, everything they should be for taming my enormous mane.
While we’re on the subject on mane taming, this shampoo isn’t doing too bad of a job. Since I have bleach on my hair (shhhh! It’s the sun, wink) it can get pretty dry so I anything that promises to hydrate it is a winner. Argan oil is the oil du jour, and it seems to be sticking around. I normally wear my hair curly, but this shampoo has made it so smooth I had to straighten it to show off the softness!
Did you know you should apply after sun whether you’ve burnt or not? Any time spent in the sun leads to sun damage, so you should always give your skin special care afterwards. When you burn, you tend to reach for anything that soothes you, but it’s easy to forget the aftercare for times when your skin isn’t red and sore. This after sun feels cooling and a very hydrating. Luckiy I haven’t burned yet so can’t vouch for how soothing it is.

Ooooh I haven’t heard of a Glossybox. I get Birch boxes but these look great. I shall investigate! I got a spectrum brush in the Birch Box too!
