When the lovely people at Very got in touch to see if I could create some autumnal makeup looks with goodies from the Topshop Beauty range I was delighted! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the Topshop makeup bundle to try out the products and create some gorgeous seasonal looks.
Topshop Beauty is a new range to Very.co.uk and is an exciting addition, joining the leagues of more than 500 fashion brands.
Before I show of the final looks, I’ll give you a quick tour of what came in my Topshop makeup review bundle.
My kit contained black mascara in ‘keyboard, Kajal eyeliner in ‘Lucky’, Chameleon lip glosses in ‘Epaulette’ and ‘school charm’…
Lip crayons in ‘feather’ and ‘impressive’…
Glitter eyeshadows in shades ‘Beauty Queen’, ‘Trip’, and ‘Band Stand’…
Longwear matte eyeliner in ‘soot’…
Fixing spray, and Longwear illuminating primer in ‘out all night’…
And a chameleon highlighter in ‘Mother of Pearl’.
Glowy Autumn Makeup Looks
Obviously I was delighted with such a huge and totally gorgeous Topshop makeup haul and immediately started working on my looks.
Soft daytime glow
This look was really simple to create. It’s perfect for school runs, work days and coffee with friends – understated but still glowy and glamorous.
I used the illuminating primer as a BB cream and didn’t bother with foundation or powder. On my top lid I swept the eyeshadow shade ‘Band Stand’ over my whole lid, and took it higher than I normally would to create the illution of bigger, rounder lids (I have hooded eyes and this helps make them look more open).
To keep this look low maintenance, I skipped using eyeliner and went straight for mascara. Instead of eyeliner, I decided to use the light eyeshadow in shade ‘Beauty Queen’ under my bottom lash line to help me look fresh-faced and give my eye a sparkle.
I finished the look with a slick of lip gloss in shade ‘Epaulette’. The whole look took less than 5 minutes, so is a perfect way to add some glow if you’re in a rush!
Vamped up glow
I think this look is probably going to be my most frequently worn. Using darker shades in sumptuous autumnal colours I tried to make my features pop.
I used the illuminating primer as a primer this time, with my normal foundation on top. I swept the Mother of Peral illuminator over my cheekbones to create a glow. For eyes, I used ‘Trip’ in the out corners to make my eyes look bigger and blended it with ‘Band Stand’ over the rest of the lid. I then used the liquid eyeliner to create eyeliner flicks to make my eyes look bigger, finishing the eyes off with the black mascara.
For lips I used the ultra-matte lip crayon in shade ‘Impressive’.
Gothic Glow
Autumn often bring lots of Halloween part invites, where dark makeup is expected. Just because you’re going for a darker look, doesn’t mean you can’t glow.
I used the illuminating primer for a base under my normal foundation, then used highlighter on my cheeks and inder my eyebrows.
For my eyelids, I used ‘Trip’ over my whole lid which appears as a shiny gunmetal/black colour, and I used ‘Beauty Queen’ to blend it to grey as it went up towards my brow bone. I then used the liquid eyeliner on my top lids for a flick and smudged the kajal eyeliner along my bottom lash line.
I finished the look by using the lip crayon in ‘feather’ and adding the gloss in ‘School Charm’ over my bottom lip to add volume.
Topshop Makeup Review
The products were all lovely and felt like they were really good quality. I found the eyeshadow nicely pigmented, which I was pleased about, because it’s not always something you see in glitter eyeshadows.
The liquid eyeliner is perfect, I prefer matte liquid eyeliner and this one stays black and stays put! The kajal eyeliner is one of the softed black eyeliners I’ve come across and applies so easily. It’s also really easy to smudge along your lid, making it perfect for smokey eye looks.
I especially like the lip crayons and the colour stays put without being drying. The lip crayon glides on like velvet but stays matte and doesn’t smudge, which is a winner.
For my overall complexion, I found the primer added a great glow and liked that it was even usable as a BB cream for me (I’m quite pale). The illuminator is gorgeous, it looks gold in the case but it goes on as an iridescent shade that shimmers from white to gold to a pinky lilac colour. It’s so beautiful!
