Glam Hair Looks for Christmas Party Season

AD

I’m not hairdresser but I like to think I know a thing or two about creating hairstyles that wow. I’m lucky enough to be blessed with lots of thick hair that’s easy to style. In fact, I’ve spent the last 20 years playing with hair tools and styles.

My go-to glam look always involves big hair. If I’m going to a party, I want my hair to my to make a big impression, especially in the festive season.

My Top Three Glam Hair Looks for Party Season

Christmas party hair looks

December is the month of Christmas party hair and chances are you’ll have plenty of invitations to let your hair down. Just like you won’t wear the same dress to every party, you shouldn’t settle for the same hairstyle either!

These are my top three glam hair looks for Christmas:

Big, Bouncy Curls

Christmas party hair big curls

I love curls. If you see me dressed up for a party, you’re most likely to see me with curly hair. Huge amounts of curly hair, all finished off with a floral crown.

To achieve this look, ideally you need a curling wand that’s cone shaped – tapering towards the end. Section your hair off and start with the underneath by curling smallish sections and holding them as they cool when you withdraw the wand. For lots of bounce, you’ll need lots of curls so be mindful of that as you curl each bit.

Once you’ve finished, you should look a bit like a poodle. Don’t worry – you’re supposed to! Spritz with a little shine mist and either run your fingers through it, or use a wide-toothed comb to tease it out. This will give it a much softer look and will help increase the volume. For added fullness or extra length, you can also use clip in hair extensions to enhance the overall curly style.

Sleek and Straight

Straight Christmas party hair

Who says straight hair can’t have volume? Not me, that’s for sure! I never wear my hair straight unless I can add some volume to the roots.

There are a few ways to add root volume, and they’re all easy for total hair novices. The first way is the quickest – buy a backcombing brush, backcomb just the roots and leave the very top later alone to avoid any fuzziness.

If you’re not a confident back-comber, you can use a crimper to lift the roots of all your underneath hair (leaving the top as is).

Finally, if you prefer other tools, a one-step volumiser will add great lift to the roots. If you don’t like the blow-dry bounce finish it provides, straighten the ends for a sleeker finish.

Half Up, Half Down

This is a modern twist on the hairstyle above. Straighten your hair but try and keep the volume at the root.  Pull back the front of your hair into a high pony, leaving half down. Try and part your ponytail so hair falls either side and bring the hair you’ve left down forward to complete the look.

If the hair you leave down looks thin, then look into getting some clip in hair extensions to add length and thickness to the style. Accessorise with statement earrings since you lobes will be on display!

All three of these styles are classy and sophisticated and are bound to dazzle this party season. Now all you need is a perfect dress!
