Give The Front Of Your Home A Facelift

A lot of us pay attention to the interior of our home, but very little attention to the exterior. While the inside of your home should come first, it’s important to not neglect the outside. An ugly facade could make your home feel less approachable for guests and could even attract burglars. If the front of your home is looking a little run down, consider some of these ways of improving it in order to create the right impression.

Light it up

Exterior lighting will help you and your guests to find the way to the door at night. It could also put off burglars from breaking into your property after dark (it will make it harder for them to break in undetected).

Your lighting could run on a timer so that it’s not always on. Alternatively, it could be motion-sensing (this can be a great way to save energy). You could even consider installing solar lighting.

Spruce up with flowers

Flowers will help to bring colour and energy to the front of your home. They will immediately make your home feel cheerier.

These could include beds of flowers, window boxes, hanging baskets or even creeper plants. Look for bold coloured flowers that contrast the colour of your home’s facade.

Update worn doors and windows

If windows or doors look visibly worn, it could be vital that you update these. Not only will these old fixtures make your home look less cared for, but they could also attract the attention of burglars looking for an easy way in.

If your windows or doors have damaged seals or have trouble closing, consider investing in replacements. Aluminium windows and steel doors are some of the most secure options and can come in many trendy styles. Old timber windows and doors can sometimes be worth preserving due to their value, but you may want to update the locks.

Consider custom signs and flags

Features such as signs and flags could be a way of personalising the front of your home.

When it comes to signs, there are all kinds of options. Friendly ‘Welcome’ will help put invited guests at ease, while ‘beware of the dog’ signs could help to scare off unwanted guests. You could also consider giving your home a name with a custom sign.

Flags can be raised on flag poles made in usa, to display a flag of your choice. From proudly displaying your national flag to supporting your favorite sports team.

A custom flag could be another creative option. This could be a flag of your nationality or a ‘welcome’ flag.

Make good use of your front lawn/driveway

Don’t neglect your lawn or driveway. These too can have a big impact on how welcoming your home is.

If you’ve got a lawn, try to keep it neat and tidy. You could consider adding some garden ornaments and plants or you could stick to a simple lawn.

If you’ve got a driveway, don’t let this get cracked or overgrown with weeds. It may be worth relaying your driveway if it is damaged. There are lots of driveway material choices to opt for from tarmac to pebbles.
