Summer is drawing to a close, but the days of sun aren’t behind us yet. While the warmth still fills the air, it’s time to get the most out of our summer wardrobes before we have to start wrapping up.

Below are my top picks for an end of summer wardrobe:
Denim shorts
Is is even summer if you haven’t donned a pair of denim shorts yet? These are style staple for the hot weather, and if you don’t own any, now is the time to invest.
The great news is, denim shorts aren’t what they were ten years ago. You don’t have to go for something that’s too tight to sit down in and so short you daren’t leave your house. There are so many cuts available that you’re bound to find something you love. You don’t even have to choose denim shorts in the traditional acid-wash hue. Anything goes now.
My favourite cut of denim shorts is the mom-jean style top half, with stylishly rolled up bottoms. They’re flattering without being tailored, and fashionable without being revealing. My daughter prefers the light coloured shorts and ripped are her favourite. The white shorts in the picture are her favourite pick from Femme Luxe, and I have to say, I love them too! They really suit her and they’re a versatile look.
Black dresses
The ‘little black dress’ has graduated well past night out outfit and has infiltrated daytime casual looks. The secret it to pick a variety of black dresses and pair then to your occasion accordingly.
The slinky, ruched black dress in the picture above is more suited to an evening on the town. The delicate spaghetti straps give it a dressy look, while the slinky material makes for more formal occasion-wear.
To choose a little black day dress, got for a rougher fabric. The slinkiness is what lends it to ‘night out’ fashion. The dress pictured below with a halterneck/racer back style cut can be dresses up as a party dress, or worn in the day with trainers and sunglasses. The fabric is more textured, but still very stretchy, lending itself to more versatile uses.
This dress also has a drawstring front feature. This can hike up the length of the skirt if you wish, or simply decorate it with a bow if you’re happy with it as is. A longer fit can give a classier finish, while a short fit gives a more fun-loving impression that’s suited to bars and clubs.
White dresses
White dresses inexplicably come with lots of rules. They’re very popular in the summer, but it’s frowned upon to wear a white dress at a wedding (which mostly occur in summer!)
White dresses can be dressed up for an evening out, but also look great with flats or trainers. You can wear them anywhere, and they look especially good when the sun shines down on them, giving them a very bright glow.
Co-ords
Co-ords have been big news for a few years now. I especially like them because they take a lot of the thinking out of choosing an outfit. While the top and bottom can be mixed and matched, they look amazing together. I love being able to buy clothes that are already sorted into an outfit for me.
The best bit about co-ords are that there are options for all seasons. In the summer you can go for a top and shorts or top and skirt mix, but in the winter you can buy jogger co-ords or long-sleeved top and trouser co-ords. Basically, you can get them in any colour for any season.
I prefer brightly coloured co-ords to just plain black or grey, that way they look like they’ve been bought together rather than just two items of the same colour being paired together.
