This summer’s heat has been brutal. I’m not good with high temperatures normally, but these past few weeks have really been a scorcher!
As a plus size woman, finding the right balance between being comfortable in your clothes and wearing the sort of clothes you like to can be difficult to achieve. I don’t really feel good in shorts and vest tops since I gained weight, and if I cover up then I swelter.
I have a certain style preference too. I’m 31, and to me, that’s still young and I want to look like I’m still young and trendy. In the past, I’ve had trouble hunting for plus size clothes that look like they made for a young person, let along someone with my tastes.
In the last year or so since my clothing size has increased, I’ve found a handful of shops that meet my requirements, one of them being Yours Clothing, so when they got in touch to ask if I’d like to try something from their range, I was delighted.
I chose this floral maxi dress, because it looked like it would keep me cool in the baking heat and I thought it would look really stylish. I was not wrong. It’s made of a lovely light, stretching fabric that doesn’t cling in any unflattering places.
I wouldn’t normally go for such light colours because I always thought they made me look bigger than I am. I don’t think that this dress does emphasise my size. The belt tie brings the dress in at the waist and emphasises my shape the way I want it it to. The pretty flower design in dusky tones is right up my street too. I think all women know there is a good kind and a bad kind of floral, and this dress is very much the good kind.
I’m totally in love with this dress and will be wearing it as often as I can get away with throughout the summer (without making the neighbours think I only own one item of clothing). If you’re plus size (or even if you’re not) I recommend Yours Clothing if you’re after some cool new summer clothes.

It’s lovely to see a clothes/underwear/swimsuit designer portraying what is normal to the children of today instead of unrealistic size 0 which caused a lot of people growing up over the years thinking they were abnormal and there was something wrong with them. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have small models too as there are small framed people in the really world but what I am saying is we should have a range of sized models just like what is walking around outside in the real world. Once again well done to this designer

More and more of big brands are going down this route so I think that’s a good thing
lovely dress, think it’s hard once you reach a certain size to find the clothes that flatter your figure, it’s a shame most clothes are designed for size 0 nowadays!!

I’m really lazy fashion-wise – my summer styling consists of jeans or combat trousers with one of my large collection of heavy metal t-shirts and either trainers or sandals 😀

My tips is shop at yours or simply be and you cant go wrong their sizing is amazing and always so flattering

You look lovely, I’m plus size too and find swimwear really hard to shop for. I too tend to stay away from light colours but maybe will try as you look lovely in this dress
I completely agree that there are conflicts between wanting to wear ‘summer’ style clothes but not wanting to show off too much flesh. In my case I often find that I buy tops with lovely open necks but then find that if I wear a bra under them the straps show and spoil the look…..and there’s NO WAY I’m going braless
Lovely to see how clothes can also be stylish for the bigger lady. I have so much trouble finding things that look nice and not old fashioned.
I adore the dress you are wearing in this post. I am pleased to see though, that more and more retailers are offering a curvier range for us bigger girls, who still want to look stylish, summery and sensational!
