I’ve been tasked with giving a thorough BaByliss PRO Crimper review. You need to see what it can do! My daughter has loads of hair so she seemed like the perfect person to show this off!
This style is super simple and I wasn’t worried about using a hot crimping iron on her young hair because the BaByliss PRO Crimper has a broad selection of heat settings.
About the BaByliss PRO Crimper
The crimper itself has a sleek design. The zig-zag plates are ceramic and heat quickly. On the outer parts of the plates is a velvety coating, which I thought was just stylish, then I realised it was functional too. To crimp effectively, you need to press down on the plates between your fingers and thumb, the velvety coating provides heat protection. Clever!
The BaByliss PRO crimping iron is so easy to use, I’d recommend it to even those who are not confident with using hair appliances. It comes with instructions but I just got stuck in, I plugged it straight in and switched it on.
I learn through doing so I had a play with the heat settings, the plates warmed quickly. Using the lowest heat setting, I crimped my daughter’s hair. For mine, I’d use a higher setting as my hair is much thicker.
How to use the crimper
It’s best to section off the hair to get the most effective results. Crimping in small sections will give you a better finish and more volume (if that’s what you’re hoping to achieve).
For the more conservative among my readers who don’t fancy a statement ‘do, if you take the top section of your hair out of the way with a clip then crimp the root of the remaining hair, it’ll give your hair the body that straight or thin hair can sometimes lack.
My thoughts on the BaByliss PRO crimper
I really like the crimping iron. The plates are wide, meaning you can work fast and the heat-up time was negligible. I think it’s really obvious that the crimping iron is salon quality, it feels nice and solid (not flimsy or weak) and it has a long swivel cord to make styling easier.
The swivel cord is one of those things you take for granted until you’re faced with a product without one and you remember what wonderful times we live in! The swivel cord is always a huge selling point for me, after some previous (tangled) bad experiences.
It can take a little while to cool down – not ages, but longer than perhaps a wand or a smaller appliance. I imagine it’s due to the device being both large and black, those characteristics tend to hold heat. As with all heated appliances, I’d always make the effort to put it on a heat-proof mat when it’s not in use and unplug it from the wall when you’ve finished using it.
