Those teen/tween crossover years are the hardest for inspiration. When you ask your child what they want, you’ll often end up with a shrug and maybe even a mutter of “I don’t know” if you’re lucky!
I’ve combined this list of suggestions for teens and tweens because I’ve found the crossover years the hardest to get inspiration for. Some of these gifts might be more suitable for a teen and some more fitting for a tween.
Below are my best suggestions:
Something for a Hobby
If your child has a hobby or is thinking of starting one, Christmas is a great time to get them kitted out. For example, if they’re just getting into tennis, a new tennis racket is bound to be a hit. Tennis HQ has a wide range of tennis products from beginner items to a things for someone a bit more advanced.
Some Pens
I’ve always been keen on getting stationery as a present. These gorgeous fine tip pastel pens make for a great Christmas gift. Whether your teen/tween loves to write or prefers to draw, these pens will go down well.
A Good Read
This book follows the life of Jessie, an autistic teen who is obsessed with the 90s. She joins a new school and want to keep her diagnosis secret. We follow her story while she tried to navigate life and her first kiss.
Trainers
Another winner is always trainers. Addidas seems to be making the shoes of the moment right now. They’ve got a great range of running-style shoes for the sportier kids, and Spezials have taken over from the the retro looking Sambas.
A Green Machine Vortex
For those teens and tweens that still enjoy getting outside for a bit of fun in the fresh air, I recommend the Green Machine Vortex. It’s an electric powered go-kart style ride on that picks up some speed and has quite a high weight limit, meaning it’ll be fine for a teen and tween. It’s suitable from age 8+, but it’s definitely something an older kid would enjoy (we have one for my son and it’s amazing). The sizing is adjustable to it also grows with your child.
iPad and Apple Pencil
This is an expensive one – but hear me out. For a sensible child who has a creative flair, an iPad with an apple pencil will be an amazing gift. Of course, iPads are multi-functional so it can be used for watching their favourite shows, chatting to their friends, gaming and much more, so it’s an investment that’s likely to take them right up to adulthood.
A Nintendo Switch
I think a Nintendo switch is great for all ages – so if your child doesn’t have one already, it’s worth a buy. Click here for a shoppable image like the one above. The Switch in this picture connects to a TV or can be played hand held. The games pictured are fun for the family as they are multiplayer.
If you’d rather have a hand-held device for your child, consider a Swtch lite like the one pictured above. The Legend of Zelda franchise puts out some awesome games that children and adults alike fall in love with (including me). Click here for a shoppable image.
