I really enjoyed working on this Simply Cook review. It’s such an easy way to try new foods and you don’t have to commit to immediately cooking the dishes you’ve selected (unlike some other meal kits, where perishable ingredients have a short shelf life).
I love cooking but lately my repertoire is a little limited, and I just don’t have the energy to be flicking through recipe books and searching for something within my capabilities. That’s why I love Simply Cook. They’re an alternative to a complete recipe box, but they still give you the chance to spice up your mealtimes with something a little different.
What is Simply Cook?

Simply Cook is a recipe delivery service that allows you to pick out some easy-to-cook meals and it send you the recipe plus some of the necessary seasonings for each dish. So instead of delivering fresh food that needs using relatively quickly, you’re free to buy in your fresh ingredients as you need them.
You pick out 4 recipes, Simply Cook send them in a letterbox sized package with the relevant seasoning. Each recipe needs you to add 4-6 items from your cupboard (or fridge) then you are able to make a meal within 20 minutes. The beauty of this service is, everything takes about 20 minutes or less, meaning it’s even an easy option on those nights you really can’t be bothered!
Which Simply Cook Recipes Did We Get?

As I mentioned above, you get 4 recipes in each package. We were excited to try the Butternut Squash Risotto, and we also ordered the Bokkeumbap, the Chicken Katsu and the Crispy Chilli Beef. All the recipes look simple enough and don’t ask you to source unusual ingredients (which is something I find my regular recipe books are always asking of me!)
Simply Cook Butternut Squash Risotto Recipe Kit

I’d always assumed risotto-making was out of my league. It seemed like a dish accomplished chefs made, and not people like me who always opt for the easy life. I was totally surprised at how easy the Simply Cook Butternut Squash Risotto Recipe kit was to make. What impressed me most was that even I was able to make this dish and it was really tasty!
I had to buy a few easy-to-get-hold-of ingredients and then I was away. The recipe took hardly any time to prep and after about 20 minutes, I had a fancy-looking risotto on my plate. What’s more, it tasted good. I promise I’m not exaggerating when I say it tasted like something you might get in a posh restaurant.

My Overall Review of the Butternut Squash Risotto Recipe Kit
I loved the risotto. I honestly never even considered cooking a risotto as a feasibly option for my cooking skill level. Simply Cook not only made me see that this dish isn’t hard to create, but it made me feel a bit more adventurous with what I’m willing to try in the kitchen.

We’ve already tried the Bokkeumbap too, which was fabulous dish, and another meal I wouldn’t have even heard of if it wasn’t for Simply Cook. I’m really amazed by how easy the meals are to make, despite most of them having names that suggest some serious chef skills are needed.
Next on the menu is Crispy Chilli Beef as it’s one of my favourite meals from the takeaway and I’d love to be able to make it myself.

I’d definitely use Simply Cook again and I strongly recommend checking them out if you’re fed up with eating the same thing all the time. The recipes allow for a bit of adaptation too. With the risotto, I only put cheese in my serving, as my husband isn’t a fan. Certain recipes allow for vegetarian swaps too, so if you follow a meat-free diet, there’s still something for you.

The crispy chilli beef sounds amazing! And you can’t never go wrong with a butternut risotto, yum!!
