As someone who is a little on the curvy side, finding lingerie that fits well and looks how I want can be hard. It’s not that it’s difficult to find my size (I’m around a UK 18 and wear an E-cup bra, so nothing too unusual) but can be difficult to get the style I want.
I was very pleased to discover that UK Lingerie cater really well for bigger sizes (as well as having an extensive core range of smaller sizes too). This is why I jumped at the opportunity to review their lingerie and host a competition for one of my lucky readers to win a £50 voucher for their site.
I was sent some lingerie for the purpose of this review but all opinions are my true thoughts.
You won’t be seeing me modelling any of my choices, which I’m sure you’ll be relived to learn (I can’t afford to lose any followers!)
Choice 1: Playtex Flower Edition Underwired Bra and Matching Briefs
I’d heard lot of fantastic things about Playtex bras, but never had the opportunity to try one before now. When I received the bra, it didn’t disappoint and I can’t believe something so beautiful is so comfortable. It’s no secret that comfy bras for busty ladies are usually ugly with a a greying air of sadness; as far as I knew, comfy bras had no right to be a beautiful explosion of vibrance and glamour.
The cups are supportive, the straps are sturdy and it’s such a joy to wear. I’m so accustomed to looking forward to the relief caused by the removal of my usual bras that I was amazed to find a bra I could keep on well past midnight!
The full-cup support offered by this bra bring hours of comfort. What’s more is that this bra has an underwire cushion at the underarm side of each cup, meaning there’s no uncomfortable jabbing or poking that underwires tend to do every so often.
A beautiful satin-look bow punctuates the centre area of the bra, where the cups join and a matching bow can be found on the briefs of this stylish set.
I’d say the fit of this set is as expected, no need to size up or down. The set can be bought as separates, meaning there’s no need to compromise on size and your order can be tailored to your measurements. The bra goes up to a 42G (and is available here), I got a 40E and the fit is perfect. The briefs are available up to a 2XL (and are available here), I got a UK 18 equivalent and they were perfect!
Choice 2: Dreamgirl Pleated Chiffon Babydoll and Matching Thong
This babydoll is light and fluttery and makes me feel like the model on the label, even though I’m sure I don’t even vaguely resemble her. The sizing is as expected, which is always good (I hate having to size up). The floaty, folded nature of the fabric is very forgiving and makes you feel like a sultry goddess, even if you’re having one of those days where you’re feeling a bit rotund because you’ve eaten too many flapjacks.
The pastel pink bow against the sheer black chiffon and the ruffling under the cups adds an extra feminine touch to an already glamorous item of lingerie. The matching thong is included in this set, but is quite plain in comparison to the babydoll, as the babydoll is long and conceals it. It fits well, makes me feel pretty and look good too (if I do say so myself). Available here in black or plum.
The service was quick, the items were well packaged and, being made by good quality, all sized were as expected. I’ll be using UK Lingerie again in the future.
