Simba Single Hybrid Essential Mattress Review

For the past few years we’ve been saving to buy our first family home, which means we’ve been holding off spending our money – even on some essentials. One of those essentials has been updating our son’s mattress. His old mattress was wafer thin and incredibly lumpy!

Now we’ve bought a house (although we’re still waiting on a completion date), it seems like a great time to get everything ready for his new room. We were very lucky to be sent a Simba Single Hybrid Essential Mattress to review. We’d been wanting a hybrid mattress for him for ages because we know they’re the best and we really wanted him to be comfy and cosy – especially when we move to our new place.

The best thing about Simba mattresses is that can be shipped to you in a relatively small and moveable box and you can set them up yourself at home.

It’s a really low effort way to transport and set up a mattress. When you open the box, you won’t believe how flat and well-packed the mattress looks! Once it’s out of the box and fully unfurled, it’ll blow your mind that it was ever in the box!

Setting Up the Simba Single Hybrid Essential Mattress

As I’ve mentioned, the Simba Single Hybrid Essential Mattress comes in a handy box that is light enough to move on your own. We live in a bungalow, so I didn’t need to tackle stairs, but I’m confident I could have.

When you open the box, you’ll see that the mattress looks very flat and is rolled up.

When you pull the hybrid mattress out of the box, it looks as flat as a pancake – don’t worry though, this is just for ease of transport.

It’s best to take the mattress out of the box, straight onto the bed then roll it out so it’s flat.

Once the mattress is in position, you’ll need to open the packaging. The packaging is vacuum packed, which is why the mattress looks so flat. As soon as air enters the packaging, the mattress begins to swell.

Be careful cutting the plastic wrapper open as you don’t want to nick the mattress.

Once you’ve removed the packaging, you need to leave the mattress alone for a good 8 hours. The longer you leave it, the more it’ll puff up. I noticed that over the following few days the mattress got even fluffier, so it seems to expand even after those initial 8 hours.

Greg was very eager to try the hybrid mattress – he even begged for an early night!

The Verdict on a Our Simba Hybrid Single Mattress

As judged by my son, this is “the comfiest mattress ever”. I have since laid on it to test it and can attest to its comfort. It’s the perfect balance of soft and supportive. It makes for a very relaxing place to lay and I’m pretty jealous of his comfy new mattress!

It’s the perfect mattress for a single bed and I recommend it to anyone who is giving their child a bedroom makeover. You absolutely can’t beat it on comfort and quality, and it’s a good price too. You might also fancy investing in a Simba hybrid duvet for an all-round better bedtime.

When my littlest goes up to a bigger bed from her toddler bed, I’ll definitely be investing in a Simba mattress for her too.
