If you have been trying to keep things together for quite a long time, then it may be that you need to try and take a mental health break. If you don’t, then you may find that things end up getting too much and that you simply crumple under the pressure. If you want to do something about this, then one of the best things you can do is take a step back and say that you need some space.

You are Irritable
One of the biggest signs that you need to take a mental health break is if you feel irritable. You may notice that you are snapping at your kids a little more or that you are having a hard time with your co-workers. On top of this, you may find that the things that you normally end up brushing off end up getting on your nerves and winding you up. Another thing you may find is that if you catch yourself feeling angry or impatient, it can affect you in more ways than one. Even though it is entirely possible for you to feel irritable from time to time, if you know that the feeling lingers, then this could be a major sign that you are not quite feeling your best, and that taking a mental health break is just what you need right now.
You Feel Burnt Out
Another big sign that you need to take a mental health break is if you feel a little bit burnt out. If you feel as though you are tired all the time, and if you feel emotionally drained, then this is a big sign that you need to try and take a break. If you don’t, then you may find that you end up struggling to cope as much as you once did, and this can really harm your mental health. Burnout can be physical and mental exhaustion, but at the same time, there are also a number of conditions that can cause you to feel burnt out. ADHD is just one of them, so make sure that you account for that and even look into it if you feel as though it relates to you. You can also look into an ADHD private diagnosis, as again, this is a good way for you to make sure that you are able to get the help you need.
Changes in your Sleep
If you’re not sleeping very well, then this is another big sign of burnout. You need to make sure that you document your sleep patterns and that you also take the time to make sure that you are not fighting fatigue when you just don’t need to. This is a great way for you to catch up on some sleep, and it will also help you to adjust to things, which is always a good thing. You may also find that you need more sleep if you are burnt out, so be sure to keep that in mind if you can.
