Gardens are wonderful. They are your own little bit of paradise. At least they can be if you design the layout well and look after it enough.
Fortunately, this is not that hard to do. There are plenty of ways to make your garden relatively maintenance free without paving or concreting over everything. One of the ways to reduce the amount of work you have to do is to turn some of the space over to nature. Leaving the weeds to grow and screening off that section of the garden is one option. But, that does not appeal to everyone.

Buying some wildflower seeds from here and scattering them over the bottom of the garden is just as easy and it looks far more attractive. Plus, as you will see, planting wildflowers is very beneficial.
An easy way to help nature
Giving over a small section of your garden to wildflowers is an excellent way to help wildlife. Insects and butterflies find them a great source of food and shelter. Bees, in particular, benefit from having access to lots of different types of flowers. So, if you want to do your bit for the environment, planting some wildflowers is an easy way to do it.
Beautiful flowers with no maintenance
Most varieties of wildflower are quite hardy. So, once they are established they carry on thriving for decades. All you need to do is to prepare the ground, scatter the seed, water it a few times and wait for the flowers to appear.

Once grown, you can just leave them to go through their seasonal cycles. There is no pruning, spraying or feeding to worry about. Nature takes care of everything for you. Of course, during the colder months, that area is not going to be anything special to look at. But, that is true of any part of a garden, during the winter months. In the summer, a wildflower bed will be a riot of color.
Decorate your home
Once grown, you can cut and use the wildflowers to decorate your home. They can be simply arranged in vases or, if you prefer, incorporated into flower arrangements.
Use them for crafting
You can also use them for craft projects. Or, have a go at making your own perfumes and natural beauty projects.
Use them to stay healthy
A lot of wildflowers have medicinal properties. So with a bit of research, you can learn how to turn them into tinctures and other natural health projects.
Give your immune system a boost
Recent studies have shown that spending time outside is a good way to build a strong immune system. The more varied the flora, fauna, and wildlife population is in your garden, the better it is for your health. It means that your body is exposed to little amounts of a long list of compounds. This gently challenges your immune system in hundreds of different ways, which exercises it. Like a muscle, this has the effect of making it grow stronger.
Eat them
Certain wildflowers are edible. They can be added to salads or sprinkled over a meal to add a new and interesting flavor.
