Christmas party season is upon us, and plus size women everywhere are looking for the right outfit to dazzle in. My preference has always been dresses. Nothing in the world feels more festive to me than a gorgeous Christmas party dress.

I think when you’re plus size it’s important to see clothes on bodies that look like yours so you can get a feel for how the clothes will look on you. I’m 5’9 and a size 24. I’m tall, a little busty, and carry a lot of my weight on my belly and upper arms. While I do think these dresses would look insanely good on absolutely anybody, I think it’s important to share my body type so you can gauge for yourself.
Plus Size Christmas Party Dress Inspiration
I like clothes that look a bit fussy. Blending in is just not what I’m about. That doesn’t mean I need bright colours or outfits made of sequins, but it does mean I will always choose something that looks a bit special.
Christmas (and winter parties in general) tend to have some unwritten rules about colour. You don’t see many whites, neons or oranges, but you get a lot of blacks, greens, reds and gold – much like the presents under your tree. I mostly stick to this unwritten rule and go for that particular colour palette, but I love to chose fabrics with different textures to really make the dresses stand out.

This dress is a real dream. Its got sewn in slip at the bottom layer, with polka dot mesh tiers, a zip up back and you tie the straps over your shoulders yourself. I love how much movement and volume it has. It makes me feel like SJP in those early seasons of SATC.
I think it would work well with heels or flats, so you don’t have to worry if you’re hoping to dance the night away in something comfy without a heel. This is definitely one of the best dresses I have ever owned.

YOURS LONDON Curve Green Velvet Bodycon Wrap Dress
I must admit, I don’t normally go for bodycon anything, but the colour and fabric of this dress really caught my attention and I fell instantly in love. The danger with both bodycon and velvet is that it clings where you wouldn’t want it to, but I can safely say, that doesn’t happen in this case. This dress is a little more daring than what I’d normally go for in terms of fit, but I think the risk paid off and I like it a lot.

Is it even Christmas if you’re not wearing glitter? This full length frock with a wrap over front and side split is the perfect party dress. If you work’s Christmas do involves a massive meal and a free bar, then this dress will take good care of you. It’s so stretchy and it clings to all the right places.
It’s also incredibly comfortable, it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a party dress at all. It feels like wearing a comfy nightie, then you catch a glimpse of your glittery self in the mirror and remember you’re actually in evening wear!
Another fab thing about this dress is that the glitter doesn’t shed. The glitter is actually part of the fabric, which means you won’t be depositing sparkle everywhere you sit and the dress will never lose its shine.
