Whitening your teeth at home can be a bit of a mixed bag and visiting a dental expert like this dentist in Avon Lake can be a hassle sometimes. It’s hard to know what products to go for and if you can believe everything you read on the internet, so I was intrigued to try the Platinum X teeth whitening pen for the purpose of this review.
I’ve heard a lot about teeth whitening pens in recent months. All the celebs and the influencers seem to swear by them as a cheaper alternative to getting your teeth whitened at a dentist’s surgery. Instead, you can apply the whitening gel at home, and still get professional results.
Platinum X Teeth Whitening Pen Review
The Platinum X Teeth whitening pen comes in some really slick packaging. It looks expensive and classy, and like a product I would trust. Inside the box is the teeth whitening pen.
The casing of the pen is a very shiny metallic finish and looks very professional. To use the pen, you just take off the cap and twist the bottom and the gel rises up through the brush.
A little Bit About Platinum X
Platinum X have created a range of professional at-home teeth whitening products. They want you to be able to achieve a bright and shiny smile in the comfort of your own home without the price tag of visiting a dentist.
The range includes the Platinum X teeth whitening pen (mentioned above) and other products such as teeth whitening strips, teeth whitening mousse, charcoal powder, bamboo toothbrushes and a teeth whitening kit.
Platinum X Teeth Whitening Pen
The Platinum X pen is designed to gradually whiten teeth using a gel which you paint directly onto the tooth. It’s small, compact and travel safe, so you can bring it on a night away or a holiday if you want your teeth to look their brightest. It uses a non-peroxide gel formula to help whiten the teeth.
It’s not suitable for anyone under the age of 18, or anyone who is pregnant, but I think that applies to all teeth whitening products out there.
Using the Platinum X Teeth Whitening Pen
The instructions are printed on the side of the box, and the pen is easy to use. It warns that you should avoid getting the gel on your lips by holding a wide smile. I’m no good at that, so I used a check retractor tool, which is basically a bit of plastic you slip in your mouth and it exposes your teeth while holding your lips out of the way for you.
Applying the gel is really easy. It comes out clear, so it’s a little hard to see if you’ve covered your tooth fully, but if you do it in a well lit area and use a magnifying mirror you should be fine.
Some teeth whitening products can cause sensitivity, and this product advises it can happen in rare cases. I didn’t get any teeth sensitivity, which I was very pleased about because products from other brands I’ve tried have sometimes caused some for me.
Platinum X Teeth Whitening Pen Before and After
I’ve noticed over the past year that my teeth have become discoloured. I have good dental hygiene and use a whitening toothpaste, but I drink a lot of tea and eat a lot of dark food, which does tend to stain.
Below is a picture of my teeth before I tried the Platinum X Teeth Whitening Pen.
As you can see, my front two teeth have the most discolouration, but they’re all a bit stained.
After just one use (a ten minute application on clean teeth) I could already notice my teeth looked lighter, brighter and a bit shinier – see picture below.
I’m planning on using the pen a few more times this week, as it says you can use it twice a day for up to five days, then top up once or twice a week for maintain the whiteness.
