I’ve been in the market for a silver, minimalist ladies watch for a while, so I was really excited when Nordgreen contacted me and asked to collaborate.
I’d spotted Nordgreen on Instagram a few months ago, but assumed their watches were out of my price range because they looked really classy and expensive. When I had a look on their site, I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable they are – the watch I’d had my eye on was only £144!
I chose the ‘Native’ model with the 40mm case and I’m completely in love with it. A 36mm case is also available but, I prefer the aesthetics of a large watch face. I went for a navy leather strap, which I think complements the cool tones of the minimalist silver casing and face.
I understand that not everybody wants to wear leather, but thankfully vegan alternatives are available (nylon or mesh) as the straps are interchangeable – there are 13 different straps to choose from! This means that there are around 100 different strap/casing combinations.
Minimalism Embodied: Nordgreen ‘Native’ Minimalist Ladies Watch
It’s no surprise that all of the combinations are elegant and stylish, since they were created by world famous designer, Jakob Wagner (of Bang & Olufsen). It’s true Scandinavian design, at far more affordable prices than you’d expect.
Nordgreen’s Social Conscience
It’s not just Nordgreen’s design that impressed me. The company has a real social conscience by using every watch sale to support a health, environmental or educational cause.
Nordgreen allow the customer to decide for themselves which cause (out of the below three) that there donation will reach.
Health – Buys 2 months of clean water for a person in the Central Africa Republic with Water for Good.
Education – Buys 2 months of education for a child in India with Pratham UK.
Environment – Preserves 200sqft of rain forest in Latin America with Cool Earth.
What I think of my Nordgreen Ladies Minimalist Watch
In case you haven’t already guessed, I love it. I love everything about it. The silver and navy are a perfect combination, but I think it’s fantastic that if I get bored of that look, I can change the strap and my watch will have an entirely different look!
It’s a quartz movement, so time-keeping is spot on. The watch itself is lightweight and doesn’t weigh your wrist down like some other large-faced watches do.
It’s a great watch and I’m really glad I own it.
