Weight loss isn’t a new concept, but 2025 brings loads of new options for how to go about it. I’ve always struggled to lose weight, so I’m excited by all possibilities that have come to light or been made available.
As someone who has previously tried slimming clubs, I don’t think they’re a good fit for me. When I was in my early 20s, they were just about the only option. The internet was a different beast back then, and there wasn’t much info on losing weight outside of these groups.
These days there’s information for everyone everywhere, and it’s much easier to figure what’s right for you, whether it’s Mounjaro injections (which you can get from online pharmacies like Curely) or intermittent fasting.
Below are some of the weight loss options I’ve been looking into. As with any lifestyle changes, it’s always best to talk to your GP to make sure it’s suitable for you.
Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD)
These diets are exactly what they sound like. They drop your calorie intake to a very low amount with the aim of quickly dropping the pounds. They often work on a total or partial meal replacement system, when instead you drink meal replacement shakes, eat meal replacement bars or eat carefully portioned soft ‘meals’ such as soups or shepherd’s pie.
Total meal replacement means these replace all of your meals and you should only eat food that’s within your plan. Partial meal replacement usually means you have two shakes or other meal replacement options followed by a small, calorie controlled meal.
I’ve done these before and they do get the results they promise, but I’ve found after a week or two, temptation is too much and only a really tasty ‘real’ meal will do.

Weight Loss Injections
There has been a lot of buzz around weight loss injections being made available in the UK. This is something I’ve been considering for a while now and am seriously looking into trying. These jabs are usually a GLP-1 medication and most people I know who take it go for Mounjaro.
This type of drug works by suppressing your appetite, reducing cravings and regulating your blood sugar. Everyone I know who has taken it says your cravings disappear – which is something I can barely imagine!
Mounjaro is available to buy from certain online pharmacies, and you’ll need to give information about your health (and potentially some family history) to make sure it’s a suitable choice for you.
Keto Diet
I feel like the keto diet has only really been big news in the past few years. It seems to have been around much longer, with the Atkins diet popularising a low carb lifestyle.
The keto diet heavily restricts carbs, even banning certain fruits and veggies that have a high carb content. The aim of this diet is to put your body into ketosis, so it starts using up fat stores instead of burning through carbs as energy. If you remove the carbs from your diet, then that just leaves the fat in your body to use for energy.
Intermittent Fasting
Another diet that has been recently popularised but must have been around for ages. Intermittent fasting is less of a diet and more of an eating pattern.
The idea is to only eat during a certain window in the daytime. Some people restrict calories and follow the designated times, and others don’t change much about what they eat but they make sure not to eat outside their designated window. For example, you might set a 6 hour eating window from midday to 6 pm. This means you can’t eat before noon or after 6.
This method can also be done with ‘normal days’ and ‘restricted days’ rather than using a time window. This is often referred to as the 5:2 diet but it’s technically a form of intermittent fasting. So if you were to follow the 5:2 method, you’d spend 5 days eating your restricted calories but have two days where you can have a higher calorie count. It’s like a diet with cheat days built in.
Whatever weight loss method you decide to go for, there are loads more to choose from in 2025. People are moving away from the diet clubs and taking more notice of what their friends are doing to get results. The internet also plays a huge part in preferred weight loss methods these days, with people being keen to jump on social media and show what works for them.
Remember to check with your doctor before you try any weight loss plan – just to be on the safe side!
