Lego Spiderman or Batman: who is the best Lego figurine?

LEGO is such a popular toy, with both boys and girls of all ages, even through to teenage and adult collectors! There is a LEGO toy for just about every theme, including the Friends range aimed more towards girls, Star Wars LEGO, Ninjago, and of course, superheroes.

With new superhero movies being released all the time, it’s no surprise that there has been a rise in the number of LEGO sets on the market to accompany these movies. Here, we’re going to focus on LEGO Batman and Spiderman, before ultimately deciding who is the best!

LEGO Batman Sets

The first Batman-themed LEGO sets were introduced in the year 2006. It was around for a couple of years, until 2008 and there were various sets released. Of course, there was the iconic Batmobile recreated with bricks, as well as the Batcave, Batwing and even the Batcycle.

In this range, various minifigures were also available depicting the most popular characters such as Catwoman, Two Face, the Riddler and of course Batman himself.

Lego Batman

Some years later, in 2012, LEGO Batman sets started appearing on shelves again. Many of these were updated versions of the original sets, and included other popular Marvel characters such as Superman and Wonder Woman.

However, Batman LEGO really became popular in more recent years. After the release of the original LEGO movie in 2014, Batman’s character was instantly loved by all who watched the movie. So, in 2017 another LEGO movie was released, this time focusing on Batman and his adventures.

Now, not only is there a huge range of LEGO building toys for kids to recreate their favourite scenes from the Batman movie, you can find other types of merchandise featuring the lovable character too. There’s party supplies, backpacks, watches and more – kids who are fans of Batman LEGO are in for a treat!

Spiderman LEGO Sets

Old LEGO Spiderman sets have been around for years, and there are hundreds of cool spiderman lego sets to choose from, like the ones on Star Walk Kids. It dates back further than the Batman sets, originating in 2002 – the same year the original Spiderman movie was released. Spiderman 2 was released two years later, and associated LEGO sets were also available at the same time. Spiderman LEGO sets from this period mostly focussed on major places or scenes found in the movies, such as Spiderman’s first chase, the bank robbery and Doc Ock’s Hideout. All of the sets came with a Spider-Man minifigure, and each set had additional figures such as Doc Ock, Aunt May and extras such as policemen and robbers.

LEGO then revamped the Spiderman sets with some new releases as part of their Marvel-themed sets in 2012. Since then, there have been a few releases to coincide with new Marvel movies being released.

There are a range of Spiderman LEGO sets to suit kids of all ages, including Duplo Spiderman sets for kids as young as 2, as well as LEGO Juniors models for 4 – 7 year olds. In the Juinors range, the LEGO Spiderman car pursuit is great – is has just 55 pieces and is great for imaginative play once it’s built. There are more advanced sets for older kids too – some of which make great display items as well as being loads of fun to play with.

Lizard is also pretty popular amongst kids who love Spiderman LEGO. There aren’t any LEGO Spiderman Lizard toys unfortunately, but this character can be found in several videos on YouTube.

Batman and Spiderman Minifigures

There are a range of cool minifigures available for both Spiderman and Batman LEGO collectors. For the Batman series, you can find a complete collection of all the minifigures – a grand total of 20. They are also available to purchase in blind bags, collecting these can be a fun activity for kids and their friends as they can swap and trade should they find any duplicates.

Spiderman minifigures are somewhat less exciting than those based on Batman and his friends (and enemies!). Some of the playsets include one or two other figures based on popular characters, however there isn’t a large collection available with all the Spiderman characters in it.

Who is Best – LEGO Batman or Spiderman?

Now that we have discussed some of the different types of each set available, it’s time to decide who is the best! Of course, that answer may depend on which character your child prefers. There are loads of fun, challenging and cool sets based on both characters. However, we love Batman the most. Not only are the sets varied and fun to build, the character in the movie is great too!

Batman LEGO toys and merchandise offers kids a world of fun, and they are sure to fall in love with the character’s funny one-liners in the movie too. Sorry, Spidey!
