Motherhood is all about sacrifice. From the moment you become a mum, time for yourself goes out the window. Sure, you can find a couple of minutes to make a cuppa (but not to drink it while it’s hot), or nip to the loo (not always on your own), but everything else needs to be carefully shoehorned in.
Thankfully, a gorgeous new range has launched from Mum & You that’s perfect for time-strapped mothers. I gave birth 6 months ago and I know as well as anyone else out there with young children that self-care can suffer when your kids are small. The thing is – it shouldn’t have to! That’s why love these new goodies form Mum & You. I was sent a couple of samples to try out and this is how I got on:
Mum & You Skincare for Busy Mums
Looking after yourself shouldn’t take a backseat. Your self-care and wellbeing is just as important as everyone else’s. You might no longer have time for a 10-step skincare routine, but that shouldn’t mean your skin doesn’t deserve a treat.
Mum & You Just a Minute 60 Second Face Mask
This ingenious clay mask makes yours skin glow in just a minute – which is the exact amount of time Orlaith sleeps for if I put her down for a nap during the day! Apply to a clean, dry face and allow the Bentonite Clay and Daikon Radish to do their magic. Wash off after 60 seconds to reveal cleansed and glowing skin.
The mask itself feels thick and luxurious to apply. It has a pleasant smell (some clay masks can have a very strong ‘earthy’ smell which I don’t think this one does. My skin felt refreshed and looked a lot less dull after I’d washed the mask off. I use it about twice a week and it’s just the pick-me-up I need after some hardcore mothering!
Mum & You Tummy Time Firming and Toning Gel
After you’ve had a baby, your skin can feel a little deflated. It’s to be expected – a whole person used to live inside you, that’s got to stretch you out a little bit. It takes time to heal and I’ve never been one to ‘snap back’. In fact, after three children, I don’t even think my body remembers what ‘back’ was!
Although stretch marks and loose skin can’t be erased overnight with creams and ointments, skin-tone can be improved. This gel has a gorgeous texture that glides onto the skin and leave it feeling supple and fresh.
The texture is similar to hair gel, then when it touches the skin, it feels like a sumptuous oil. It sinks in quickly, leaving your skin hydrated, soft and thoroughly pampered!
The Rest of the Range
Although I’ve only had the pleasure of sampling two of the products from the range, I expect the other products will be just as lovely. They’re vegan and cruelty free, meaning you can enjoy your pamper session with a clear conscience.
The packaging is beautifully colourful and I’m totally in love with the self-care products I’ve tried. These would make a great gift for any mother of little ones. The range was created for mums, by mums, so they have a good insight into what we like!
