When it comes to choosing your kid’s first phone, it can be a bit of a minefield. You want it to have all the normal features you’d expect a smartphone to have, but you still want to be in control.
It can be a hard balance to strike, especially if you aren’t necessarily wanting a kids’ phone specifically. There are phones designed for children out there, but they’re specifically designed to be restrictive.
If you get an android phone and at set it up with a kid’s Gmail account, you keep an eye on what they download, but they get full functionality of the phone as if they were an adult. This means they don’t miss out on any apps their friends have, and it’s to grow with them as they gain maturity.
The IMO Q2 Pro smartphone runs on android, which means it can be a really good option for a first phone. You can get all the apps your child will love, and be safe in the knowledge they won’t be spending on your account without your knowledge!
We put the IMO Q2 Pro smartphone to the test. It’s a budget model android that’s priced around the £35 mark. At first glance it seems too good to be true – but is it?

Setting Up the IMO Q2 Pro Smartphone
The phone is really easy to set up, but it does come with the batter packed separately. This isn’t an issue because I remember the days when all smartphones arrived this way, but I’m aware that there’s youngster’s out there that won’t.
You have to clip off the back, insert the sim (and SD card if you’ve bought one) then put in the battery, clip the back on and charge. The phone comes with a charging cable, but mine didn’t have a plug. It’s pretty universal though and can be charged in a laptop or you can pinch the plug off something else if you don’t fancy buying one.

Once it’s fully charged, turn it on for the first time and it’ll guide you through the set-up. You’ll need a Gmail account, so if you’re using this as a first account, set it up before the phone so things can run smoothly.
Overall, it’s super easy to set up.
How is the IMO Q2 Pro Smartphone for Everyday Use

We love this phone. I can’t believe it only costs £35! It’s a fully functional smartphone and very easy to use.
I like how lightweight it is. It’s smaller than a lot of modern smartphones and reminds me of my husband’s old S2, size wise.
Personally, I like the size. It’s particularly good if you’re thinking of getting this as a first smart phone, since your pre-teen or teen will have smaller hands anyway. It ‘s also lightweight, weighing in at a tiny 112g.
I’d describe it as easy to use and comfortable to hold. Getting round the phone is as you’d expect. It’s an Android, so it works like the Androids you’ll have used before.
All in all, a great little phone and an absolute bargain.
Spread the word that you don’t need to spend lots to get your hands on an ace little smartphone.
