Working from home is a glorious dream come true for many. As long as you have a dedicated workspace and a strong, reliable connection from somewhere like windstream internet, you can make this a reality for yourself too! Personally, I love the fact that I’m my own boss and I can pick and choose my office hours. The only trouble is, productivity can suffer, especially if your home office is a corner of a room in your home.
An outdoor office solves a lot of problems when it comes to distractions. Garden office sheds are fantastic for productivity in general. Aside from them being separate from the main house (making it less likely you’ll be disturbed), there are several ways which a garden office can increase your productivity.
How Working From a Garden Office Can Increase Productivity
Below are some great ways a garden office can help increase your work output and ensure your time is used more efficiently.

You’re Less Likely to be Disturbed
When you work inside your main house, there is a high chance you’ll be disturbed. Other members of the household might not even be aware that they’re stopping you from working. From quick interruptions like being offered a cuppa by your partner, to derailing distractions like a toddler wanting to play, working inside your home is likely to be bad for productivity.
If you remove yourself from where the rest of your household are likely to be, and work from an office in the garden, you are more likely to escape being disturbed. If someone has to make an effort to call in on you, it’s likely to put them off coming over to you unless they really need you.
You’re Less Likely to be Distracted

Working in your living space can be a huge distraction. Spotting housework that needs doing, or breaking off to do little bits around the home can be tempting. Separating your home and work life can be difficult if you do both in the same place. You might feel enticed to have a longer break than you have time to, or watch your favourite show while you work – all of these things are productivity killers.
Separating your work and home life, makes it easier to do both types of tasks more efficiently. Instead of doing house chores when you should be working, and your work when your should be relaxing or keeping up with the housework, dedicate your efforts to one job at a time. Things run more smoothly when you’re not juggling tasks.
There’s No Commute
It’s not unusual for members of the workforce to spend 2hrs+ each day on the commute. This can be bad for morale, drag out the day and mean you’re already tired at the beginning of your working day. It’s a real drain on time that could be better spent either working or catching up on some well-earned leisure time.
When you work in your garden, it only takes a minute to arrive at your workplace. You can start work feeling energised and when your day is over, you can lock up and return to the main house. If you need to put in any overtime, at least you can be in your PJs with a cuppa in your hand, minutes after you finished.
Staying well-rested can means you can begin every day feeling refreshed, which in turn helps you work more efficiently and increases your output.
