We received Hape’s Tasty Proteins play set in return for an honest review.
Greg is a huge fan of food-play. He loves his kitchen and his grocery store and often pretends to buy his food before preparing a meal. As you can probably tell, he was delighted to receive this beautiful wooden food set to play with.
Hape Tasty Proteins -What’s in the box
The food is packaged in a paper bag inside the box, it’s a really nice touch because it looks like a bag of take-out and adds realism to the play experience.
Inside the bag is a tray, a knife, a lemon slice, a chicken leg, some bacon, a steak that can be cut into slices and a fish that can be filleted.
This set is perfect for any aspiring chefs. Greg thoroughly enjoys playing with it and we’ve been learning about healthy eating.
I especially like the streaky bacon, I think it looks pretty realistic!
The fish is great too because it’s magnetic. It comes as a whole fish, but you can fillet it both sides with the knife included. Playing with this encouraged Greg to ask questions about food preparation (why we don’t eat fish bones) and got him interested in which fish we eat.
The lemon looked very realistic too!
The chicken leg comes off the bone if you pull it, so if you’re playing a game where your child is a chef, you can pretend you’ve eaten everything.
The steak comes with a steak knife and can be cut into parts.
The steak is held together with hook and loop fastening so can be reattached after you’ve cut it up.
The Hape Tasty Proteins wooden food set is really cool. Greg found it great fun to play with and it seemed to be a great learning opportunity for talking about food and healthy eating. It would make a nice little gift for a child’s birthday or Christmas present.
