Morning all! As you might have guessed from my very sparse posting schedule and general disappearance on social media, I’ve been super busy. Greg’s been in and out of hospital, I moved house and now I have uni deadlines (I’m so close to freedom though, I can practically touch it).
Luckily I have a bunch of lovely blogger friends who have been more than happy to help keep my blog ticking over. First up in the guest posting is Alice from Living with a Jude. She has very kindly allowed me to share her post for the #RockingMotherhood tag, started by White Camellias. Enjoy!
TEN reasons I rock at being a MUM…
So I have decided to take part in the #RockingMotherhood tag for a bit of self-help. I’ve been feeling really miserable recently, I’m tired, Jude is killing me, the overwhelming amount of stuff I have to do each day (and usually fail) is killing me, I’ve lost my appetite which for me is pretty serious and I’m generally feeling run down. SO the Rocking Motherhood Tag involves coming up with ten things I believe make me a good mother and I thought that focusing on the positive rather than the negative would really be good for my mind and general well being. Yep, this is a selfish post.
I’m not going to lie, I struggled with this big time. I don’t buy magazines or read trashy online stories because I believe they are written largely to make us feel bad about ourselves and I’m already a pro at that!
So…ten things…yikes. I may only make it to five but here goes…
- I think I teach my children good manners and how to be good people.
- I encourage them to be morally focused. So for Elsa in particular (and Emmeline when she’s older) we regularly talk about how lucky we are to have what we have and we think of ways we can help others.
- I think the children are pretty happy so that must mean something good, right?

- I’m pretty certain I know my children better than anyone. I know their favourite colours, films, books, foods, best friends, favourite teachers, Elsa’s favourite subjects, what she wants to be when she’s older. I can predict when Jude is about to lose the plot of when he just needs time with you sitting in a quiet room. I know what mood he’s in from just seeing how he exits his bedroom in the morning. I just know things.
-
I think I’m pretty selfless. I really need some new clothes but won’t buy them (much to Joe’s annoyance) because the children need stuff plus Christmas is coming up along with renewal fees for Elsa and Jude’s activities for next term eeeeek. Their needs are way more important to me and if they’re happy then I’m happy. Here’s a picture of me stealing Joe’s lovely jacket because I don’t have one at the moment! Well, I do but it’s old and I hate it.

- I spend many an hour contacting people at the council and ensuring Jude has what he needs in terms of provision. Over the last year especially, I have had hundreds of phone calls pushing and fighting for the support I want him to have. He deserves the best and to have a fun life and as he can’t fight for himself, I’ll do it for him.
- I tell them I love them a lot.
- Elsa and I talk about everything and anything. She knows she can ask me anything and knows I’m there for her.
- I only surround them with positive people.
Ok so I’m kind of at an end now. Nine isn’t bad, is it?
Can you think of something that makes you a great mother?
A x
So now you know what makes Alice a great mum, you should go and check out her blog, you’ll love it, I promise. She’s also nominated me to participate, so expect my post this time next week when I’m entirely free!

This is fab. Thank you for taking part Alice and thanks for hosting it Jenni. You have so much to juggle. I started the tag so people could for a few minutes just think about something positive to say about themselves and being a mother. You are right it is really hard. You have done a great job and I think you are totally rocking motherhood xx
