It’s this time of year that life gets busy. The kids are back at school, we have to start planning for Christmas and my husband just started a teacher training course. Things are hectic. Not to mention, I’m pregnant too!
When family life gets busy, it’s easy to forget the small things like getting enough sleep and keeping your diet as healthy as it could be. This is why I was so excited to take Arla Goodness up on their offer to help my family have a ‘goodness night in’.
I’ve noticed as Emma has become more independent; she doesn’t spend as much time in the family room. She likes to spend time on her own, chatting to her friends and watching YouTube and she eats her tea with her brother, not me and my husband.
I try to make sure she gets plenty of healthy stuff down her, but it’s harder to keep track now she’s older. That’s why I love the new Arla Goodness milk – it helps me and the kids stay topped up with essential calcium. In fact, one 250ml glass contains 50% of an adult’s recommended daily calcium intake, has 30% more protein than standard semi-skimmed milk and contains just 1% fat.
To encourage Emma to get enough calcium, I give her Arla Goodness on her cereal then another serving after school in a warm cup of hot chocolate.
Our Goodness Night In
The kind people over at Arla Goodness sent us a treat box, filled with goodies for our ‘goodness night in’. Inside were some mugs and pens to decorate them with, some hot chocolate kits, a popcorn maker, a smartphone projector and an Amazon gift card.
We decided we’d use the gift card to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a family and since we were having a goodness night in, we’d make a healthy popcorn snack and have some yummy Arla Goodness in our hot chocolate kits.
Before doing anything, we decorated our cups!
We tried to keep in with the goodness theme, Emma drew a rainbow and wrote words she thought went hand-in-hand with goodness. I popped some popcorns then we filled our mugs with hot chocolate to settle down for the film.
I really loved spending time all together as a family, it was nice to have something to watch that everyone enjoyed. I was also very pleased that we managed to keep it healthy with no junk food in sight! The popcorn went down a treat, as did the hot chocolate!
How Arla Goodness Can Help Keep YOUR Family Healthy
If your family life is hectic like mine, the last thing you need is to be worrying about whether everyone is getting a balanced diet. Tweens and teens are especially hard to keep track of (don’t I know it), meaning any helping hand is usually a welcome one!
When trying to achieve a healthy, balanced diet, dairy is an important food group to consider. The calcium dairy provides helps support growing bones and teeth (as well as the maintenance of the ones that have stopped growing!)
Arla Goodness is easy to incorporate into your family’s everyday diet and provides 50% of an adult’s calcium requirement in one 250ml glass. What’s more, it contains 30% more protein than regular semi-skimmed milk, but only contains 1% fat. This means your kids will get a little more goodness per serving than other alternatives
Arla Goodness is available in selected Tesco and Sainsbury’s stores now. For more information on Arla Goodness, visit https://www.arlafoods.co.uk/brands/arla-goodness/.
