We’re sure that your mind is now firmly set on the new year. You’re more than ready to leave all of the troubles of 2018 behind, and to try and start fresh in the new year. But this happens every year, does it not?! At the end of every year we suddenly become so desperate to see the year out, and to discover what 2019 has in store for us. For a lot of us, it’s exactly the same as the year before! Time flies by, and before we know it another year has passed us by with little change to our lives. Well, we think 2019 should be the year that you truly make a change, and the one place we think this can easily be done, is within your home. You spend a hell of a lot of time in your home, and you spend even longer procrastinating to the things that you need to do. You’re always dead set that you’ll do something to your home when your next payday comes around, only to ignore it altogether and spend your money on something else. Well, we think enough is enough. There are so many fabulous home upgrades that you could do, all of which will give you that beautiful home that you’ve been longing for so much. But if you haven’t got round to doing them, or you feel like you need a little bit more inspiration, then keep on reading!
Two Rooms That Could Be Renovated
2019 should be a year for renovations, because every now and then, your home needs a little bit of an upgrade to make it look fabulous. If you have a new build home, then this one won’t apply to you. But for all of you that have been suffering with some old features in your home, what is stopping you from completely renovating a room or two. The first thing you’ve probably just said is money. Yes, renovations can be a little bit pricey, but we’re not expecting your to jump right into one in January, and there are ways that you can reduce the cost as well! But hopefully you do have some savings behind you that you’ve collected over the year, and we think a renovation of the following two rooms is the best way to spend it!
Kitchen: A beautiful kitchen is definitely one that can be envied. For all of you with a new build home, you are super lucky. Because there is just something so luxurious about a new kitchen that just can’t be beaten, and it makes slaving away in there over all of the meals you’ll be able to cook, so much more enjoyable. We think there are a few key features that you should focus on when renovating your kitchen, and the first is space. It’s so easy to create more space during a kitchen renovation simply by changing the layout of everything. Or, you could even think about knocking a wall through, and using some of the space in the room next to it if you don’t use it much at the minute. You can work with kitchen designers to maximise the space, and we promise you it will improve the value of your home when you do come to sell it. Don’t make your kitchen look too clunky with cupboards everywhere either. We think simplistic is better, and definitely work to have your appliances built into the structure. From your fridge to your oven, it looks so much more modern to have it all tucked away, rather than being obvious. Renovating your kitchen is also the perfect time to have all new appliances installed, but make sure they go with the colour scheme you’re having. This is the next thing we think you seriously need to consider. The colour scheme of a kitchen really defines it, and we think one that looks super smart is the white and dark grey look. White cupboards with grey countertops and flooring looks so good when contrasted against each other, and you’ll find it’s the color scheme that most kitchen installers are now recommending.
Bathroom: A good bathroom is pretty much essential. You have to have a bathroom that’s going to meet your needs, just like with the kitchen, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to have the most space in the world. But like with the kitchen, we think the color scheme is going to play a bit part. One we love for the bathroom is a stone/cave theme. It looks unique, it’s easy to keep clean, and it gives you that tranquil feeling of being in a cave! Then, you need to think about whether you’re a bath type of person, or a shower. If you’re a shower, then we think a walk in shower is a must. A local bathroom supplier should be able to show you the range of walk in showers that there are, and it’s then down to you to chose one that’s going to suit your theme. If you were going to go for the cave theme we gave you, we think cream coloured tiles for the flooring, and a white sink and toilet will look the best. Finish the room with indoor plants, and you’ve got yourself one of the best looking bathrooms in our opinion!
A Luscious Back Garden
We do believe that the back garden is underrated. So we want to give it the time of day in this article to show you what you could have when summer comes around again. It might seem like a world away, but before you know it that blazing heat is going to be back, and all you’ll want to do is be outside. So, although you might not be able to make these changes now, think about how you would apply them to you garden when the time comes. One thing we think you should consider is having some decking installed. It looks super smart, and it gives you and area away from the grass to relax. You could have an outdoor furniture set brought in, and a state of the art BBQ to host some fabulous garden parties. Having the perfect mix of decking and grass will add value to your home. Then, when the time comes, it’s all about making your garden as pretty and as bright as possible through the use of plants and trees! There’s plenty of gardening websites out there that would be able to help you with everything we’ve just discussed if you need a little bit more advice.
Bring In The New Technology
Technology is a great addition to your home. It’s what brings it into the 21st century, and it actually becomes part of your decor. You must admit that if you walk into a home with a huge new TV, you instantly think ‘oooh that’s fancy!’. But it’s not just a TV that you could get, although we definitely would consider upgrading yours if it’s been a few years. You could think about things that will enhance your living experience, such as a surround sound system. Nothing will make you feel like you’re being immersed into a film more, than a booming sound system would. Be careful if you’re watching a horror though, you definitely will jump that little bit more. If you wanted to take things up a level, you could also think about home automation systems. They’re something extra fancy, and definitely pricey to install, but it will allow you to have so much control over your home!
A Bedroom That Is To Die For
We want to talk about the bedroom, because we know it’s the one room in your home that you probably enjoy the most. The others might be the ones where you spend the most time actually doing something other than sleeping, but everyone can appreciate a good bedroom.
I think that at the heart of a good bedroom, is a good bed. If you have the space for it, we would definitely think about getting a king sized bed. An investment it might be, it’ll definitely be worth it with the comfort factor. A nice new bedframe to go with it, and plenty of pillows to fill it with will just look amazing. Then, you can work in some new decor around it. With think a simple colour looks nice enough, such as a white and grey. You could then have grey and white bed sheets, with the pillowcases to match. If you had the money to, you could even get one of those bedframes where the TV comes out the bottom of it!
Invest in a treat for your feet by getting a beautiful rug for you to step on when you get out of bed. Shaggy rugs look great, and you have to option to either complement or contrast the rest of the decor.
