Plant based milk has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. As people have become more health conscious, the conversation has steered towards including more plant based products in your diet.
Introducing plant based into your diet can be really easy. It doesn’t mean you have to miss out on anything else you’d normally have. Instead, you can add plant based milk into your diet without changing a thing. You can even get a plant based milk delivery so it’s no extra effort at all to start using it.
Below are my favourite ways to introduce plant based milk into your diet.
Cakes & Bakes
Plant based milk is easy to substitute into lots of recipes, so why not start with cakes? Everyone loves cakes and baked goods, so it’s a great place to start. You could search for recipes on Pinterest, or experiment yourself after checking which is the best plant based milk for baking.
I’m a fan of blueberry muffins make using plant based milk, but anything known for being sweet and tasty will work.
Pancakes

Pancakes are a great recipe for switching up ingredients. You can make them with plant based milk, or go for a fully vegan option and make them without eggs too.
In fact, pancakes are a strong feature in the diets of those with allergies since you can switch out almost any ingredient. From those suffering with lactose intolerance, to anyone who suffer with an egg or gluten allergy, there’s a way of making pancakes that avoids any ingredients you don’t want to use.
Plant based pancakes are a really great addition to your diet if you’re hoping to eat a little healthier as lots of fruit can be added – either in the recipe or served on the side (or on the top).
Smoothies

Smoothies generally offer a plethora of nutrients and can be made without an exact recipe – which is ideal if you don’t like messing about with weighing and measuring things.
Most smoothies can be thrown together which a handful of each of your preferred fruit and a splash of soya or oat milk. Yum yum!
If you’re a stickler for accuracy, there are millions of smoothie recipes on Pinterest, so I’d spend some time searching on there.
Hot or Iced Coffee

Adding plant based milks to coffee is a good way to switch up your beverages. Coffee is so versatile too, you can have it hot or cold, strong or weak, creamy or black, sweet or bitter – there really are tonnes of options.
Oat milk in coffee is incredibly popular, so start of easy with a tasty oat milk latte! You could even add some vegan cream for an extra creamy end result.
Cocktails

Cocktails are so easy to make fully plant based. A lot of cocktails, such as plant based pina colada, are mostly plant based anyway.
Because the main ingredient in cocktails is fruit juice and booze (unless you’re going virgin) there isn’t a lot that doesn’t come from a plant.
Even those creamy cocktails can have a plant based option. A plant based espresso martini is a pleasant switch from the cow milk based kind.
