Red wine, is the wine of choice in our house. We prefer something rich and fruity that’s versatile when it comes to accompanying meals. Independent Wine, the wine website that delivers next day (which is exactly what we’ve been looking for during lockdown) sent us out a couple of recommended reds that we simply had to try.
Diecianni 2017 Primitivo (Zinfandel) was the first wine on our list. It boasts a full-bodied flavour that tantalises the senses and begs to be consumed. But does it live up to the hype?

A rich scent of fruity warmth fills your nostrils as you pour a glass of this beautiful red wine. Vanilla tones seep in through the cluster of dark fruit that first hits your olfaction, bringing your tastebuds to life before they’re treated to that first sip. Soft and sweet, the wine pulls you in and transports you to lazy summer evenings where relaxation is at the top of your ‘to do’ list.
This wine is everything it promises to be and more. The bouquet of flavours are a delight and the rich tones makes it the perfect drink to accompany a homecooked evening meal. Its smooth, bold taste means it makes a complementary pairing with beef, lamb and chicken in rich tomato-based dishes or with pasta. From a sirloin steak to a simple spaghetti bolognese dish, this wine will make be the perfect accompaniment.
