Dealing with Different Skincare Concerns

AD

Skincare is something I love learning about. Over the past few years I’ve taken a real interest in how to look after your skin, how to fix problems and prevent any unwanted changes from happening. From signs of aging to spots, I’d like to think I know what to do when faced with any obstacles to that perfect complexion.

I spend a lot of time reading about new products and treatments, and give a fair few goodies a try along the way. I’m only 33, so while some of the signs of aging will be easy enough to fight off at my age, I’m still keen to learn new ways to look good for as long as possible.

Common Skincare Concerns

Some skincare concerns crop up a lot more than others. Spots, fine lines and eye bags are probably the most common bugbears but there are also loads of other things to consider so do your own research. Below are some great fixes for common skincare complaints.

Oily, Breakout Prone Skin

Oily skin that frequently breaks out can be a pain to deal with. It’s easy to get trapped in a vicious circle of wearing lots of makeup to hide the problem, only to make it more oil and breakout prone. Giving you skin regular breaks from foundation can help, as well as using the correct skincare products.

I’ve recently been reading about Environ products, which are designed to combat a multitude of skincare issues. For example, Environ Sebuwash would be perfect for this type of skin. Congested, oily or breakout prone skin will love this gentle, mattifying wash that helps achieve balanced skin. Tailoring your skincare alongside giving your skin a few days a week without makeup should improve your complexion.

Fine Lines

Interestingly enough, fine lines can be caused by loads of different things, so pay attention to what triggers yours. Mine tend to appear around my eyes when I’m sleep deprived and my skin is dehydrated. I find if I get enough sleep, use a hydrating moisturiser and drink plenty, these lines disappear. I also get fine lines on my forehead, but exfoliation followed by a good moisturiser also managed to get rid of them.

Dehydration seems to be a common theme when it comes to fine lines, so be mindful of habits that dehydrate your skin (such as smoking or drinking alcohol). If exfoliation, hydration and moisturising doesn’t do the trick, look into plumping serums to help fill those lines.

Eye bags and dark circles

A common affliction (especially for parents) is dark circles and puffy bags under the eyes. These can appear together or separately. I get dark circles most days, but the bags are rare unless I’m very rundown. Sadly, sleep is only half a cure and you’re likely to need a helping hand.

When it comes to dark circles, a combination of sleep, moisturising and tinted creams is your best bet. A rose coloured (or salmon if your skin is dark) cream will combat the blue/grey hues from your under eye area. It can instantly make you look well-rested by moisturising the area and hiding the dark skin.

Eye bags can be trickier to shift. Some people swear by a cool mask to take down the puffiness. If you don’t have time to chill the area, a dedicated eye serum should do the trick.

As with all skincare, it’s partly down to research and partly down to trial and error. It’s important to persevere with any changes in your routine as it’s unusual to get instant results.
