Orlaith plaing with Dantou stacking cups

Dantoy – The Green Toy Brand You Need to Know About! | AD

Dantoy is the new green toy brand on the block. New to the UK, the Danish brand has reached our shores ready to impress in time for Christmas. Their toys are chemical, pollutant and toxin-free.

We were sent some lovely bioplastic stacking cups to see what our favourite baby toy expert thought.

Dantoy Bioplastic Stacking Cups

These stacking cups are made of at least 90% sugarcane, which is a sustainable raw material that’s fully recyclable. They’re beautiful muted tones that would look good in any nursery. The stacking cups arrive in recycled cardboard packaging, which is easy to recycle again.

Dantoy’s bioplastic is made from sugarcane, grown in plantations in southern and central Brazil, which is then harvested and transported by train. This is better for the environment than using lots of lorries.

Another point worth mentioning is that sugarcane absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere as it grows. This is an important plus because too much CO2 can have a negative effect on the planet. Balancing out the amount of CO2 on the planet can only be a good thing.

Having Fun With the Stacking Cups

Our beautiful toy tester was put to work on giving these stacking cups a whirl.

Stacking the cups

Don’t be fooled by the pictures, she’s actually dismantling a tower I made. It turns out our newest baby is quite destructive in nature!

Orlaith chewing them

After knocking down my carefully constructed tower, Orlaith took part in a taste test. Babies tend to put everything they can get their hands on in their mouths. The stacking cups carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and do not contain harmful substances such a phthalates, perfume, BPA or endocrine-disruptive substances. So although I’d rather she didn’t chew them, I’m not overly concerned that she decided to explore with her mouth.

When he play capabilities go beyond knocking over things I’ve carefully built, I think we’ll enjoy using these as an outdoor toy and using the shapes on the base of each cup to leave different imprints in the sandpit.

The Dantoy stacking cups are available from Amazon (affiliate links) as are other toys in the range, including the Bio-Toy Tipper Truck, the Parking Garage, Bioplastic cars and Bio Beach Sand Toys.

Have you found any eco-friendly toys brands? I’d love to hear from you.
