The prospect of spending Valentine’s Day in lockdown might seem disappointing, especially if you’re used to going out. I love getting dressed up and having a date night with my husband, and I’m not going to let staying in stop me.
Valentine’s Day isn’t cancelled – it’s just different this year. There’s no reason you shouldn’t order your favourite meal, have a drink and spend some quality time with your partner. I’ll be doing exactly that!

Personally I like to be pampered. A looooong soak in the bath is my idea of a treat, so getting something for the bath is my ideal gift.
A chance to pamper myself before out Valentine’s date night is exactly what I’m hoping for. I want to relaxed and wash off the stresses of weeks of homeschooling the kids. Having chance is to unwind as a couple is exactly what Valentine’s day should be about. I don’t think I’d let my husband share my bath though!
I also love to receive flowers. It might be worth hinting now if you’re hoping to receive some this year. Moonpig delivered the bunch of roses in the picture, they arrived boxed, in perfect condition and I’d definitely recommend them if you’re thinking of buying flowers online.
Unwind with a glass of something special
It’s nice to enjoy a glass or two of something special when you’re having a night in. Without the argument of who is going to be the designated driver, you can both enjoy a tipple! I love a gin and tonic, with pink gin being my favourite. I always tell myself I’ll experiment with cocktails, but in reality, all I need is a fancy tonic to accompany a splash of gin and I’m happy. I’ve bought my husband a bottle of whisky this year, but I bet he still wants to share my gin!
Setting the mood
It can be hard to turn the room the kids have been playing in all day into a romantic hideaway. My best attempts involve shoving all the toys out of the way, dimming the lights and lighting a scented candle. Somehow, even this half-hearted effort changes the ambience of the room and transforms it into a place we can relax as a couple.

When you’ve spent every evening at home with a person, it can feel like a challenge to make a couple’s night in feel special. An activity night aimed for couples could be just the ticket.
