Old Hollywood Glamour in 3 Simple Steps

Old Hollywood Glamour in 3 Simple Steps

Old Hollywood glamour is one of the most iconic looks there is. Luckily for you, it’s also one of the simplest looks to achieve!

You don’t need to be an expert at applying makeup to get the look of a Hollywood glamour pus – all you really need are the right products. I used liquid eyeliner to achieve my look, but since we’re keeping things simple, we’ll skip that step.

The first thing you need to do is apply your preferred base. I’m not going to advise on that because I didn’t wear foundation in my 20’s and I’m still hunting for the perfect one now. If you don’t wear foundation normally or you’re not sure where to start, a drug-store face cream that reduces shine will do the trick.

This is an eyebrow product with a difference. Easy to use and easy to apply, it’s the must-have product for anyone who likes to keep things simple but look sensational!

One end is a thin, angled brush, and the other is a little pot of creamy powder to dip your brush into.

Old Hollywood glamour had arched eyebrows a-plenty, so use this product to create arches. My eyebrows are a bit patchy and have areas with almost no hairs, so I always have to fill mine in as well as create an arched shape.

The easiest way to do your eyebrows is to trace the natural shape with the brush and fill in the middle. I usually enhance my natural arch by increasing it slightly with brow product, so you might want to try that for a more open-eye look.

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

This mascara comes in a tube, which helps minimise wasting any product. I hate it when I use a regular mascara tube and can’t use all of the product because it’s stuck at the bottom and the brush doesn’t reach!

The brush is curved for ease of application and tapers at the end to help catch the smaller lashes in the corners of your eyes.

The formula contains caffeine which helps the eyes look more open, and fibres to add length to your lashes. I found it made my lashes curl upwards and look really long and thick:

Matte red lips are essential to accurately recreate old Hollywood glamour. This intense red matte by Illamasqua is a perfect shade and texture to complete the look.

The matte lipstick is quite stiff to apply, but lasts hours and doesn’t smudge. I applied it directly to my lips, but it might be easier to apply with a brush because it was quite stiff. The lipstick comes with a really sharp point which was great for accuracy and I didn’t bother with lip liner.

Old Hollywood Glamour is a classic and much coveted makeup look. Whether you're a makeup beginner or a seasoned pro, these 3 simple steps (and 3 easy-to-use products) will help you achieve your Hollywood goals. #hollywood #marylinmonroe #hollywoodglamour

  1. It doesn’t matter how many tutorials I read or watch I still end up looking more like a pantomime dame.

  2. Old Hollywood glamour is not a look that I personally could wear because I have very hooded eyes and therefore cannot wear any kind of winged eyeliner. However, it is a look that I have always thought was very classy and pretty.

  3. I rarely wear makeup but I’d say the red lipstick, although I would need a far darker red than the one in the picture as I have cool skin tones, bright reds make me look like a clown 😀

  4. Loving the look here. Wish I could carry this off! Might just try the Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara to begin with….

  5. What a great idea to show how to achieve that classic look with only three products. Love the result!

  6. My wife is rather intrigued she says. I think she’s considering the lipstick at least.
(Yummy!!, I absolutely approve, the makeover looks gorgeous!)

  7. The Brow Game Strong sounds fab, love the colour of the lipstick but not sure I could carry it off, looks good on you though
