In case the title didn’t give it away, I’m up for an award! A Britmums Brilliance in Blogging award, to be precise, and I’m a finallist in the beauty & fashion category. Obviously I’d love you to vote for me, but I figured I’d better justify it in case you’re a new reader and haven’t decided whether I do or not.
I’m a time-starved mother of two, and I know the struggle is real when it comes to finding time and money to look how you’d like. Generally I’ll write about affordable beauty products a few times a month and new outfits less often. This is because makeup is cheaper than clothes, and I can’t afford new clothes all the time.
I love makeup, and choose to write about the affordable stuff because I don’t often have the cash for high-end products (and I think a lot of other mothers are in the same boat when their priorities shift). I like to show how you don’t need a lot of time or cash to create makeup looks, for example, this beautiful eyeshadow palette was about £7 (blog post coming soon):
When I have no kids in tow, I can make a proper effort and I look like this (if you were at BlogOnToys you may recognise the flower crown, if not the face underneath it).
Because my children are a big part of my life, they also feature on the blog from time-to-time. I like to portray a real version of my life, so only talking about makeup or clothes wouldn’t give you the whole picture of my lifestyle. For reference, this is what I look like when I’m with my kids:
I’m honest with my readers and pay for a lot of the makeup I talk about myself (although, I do accept items for review). If I really like it, I usually buy a second set and run a giveaway on my blog because I like to thank my readers for their support. Also, it’s just pretty nice to win treats.
