Turning ashes into jewellery can be an incredibly sweet way to keep loved ones close after they pass. Five years ago, when I lost my father, I didn’t even know this was a thing, if I had, I’d have bought a necklace for ashes and kept a part of him with me forever. I also had no idea you could turn ashes into diamonds, which is much more expensive but it does create beautiful jewellery.
My friend first brought this cremation jewelry to my attention when she lost her beloved dog. I was amazed that turning ashes into jewellery wasn’t something you could do for people too. Angel wings are really popular images used to symbolise the death of a loved one. It suggests they have found peace and a place in heaven. A nice euphemism for saying a loved on has passed is saying “they grew their angel wings today”, which is probably why this necklace is so popular. It’s available for £12.09 from Amazon but looks much more expensive. It’s a classy design and as this memorial necklace is made of stainless steel, it won’t fade. It holds a small amount of ashes, but doesn’t stand out as obviously being an urn necklace.
Floral Teardrop Necklace for Ashes
This floral teardrop pendant for ashes is designed to open like a locket. It doesn’t just hold ashes, it can also be a keepsake holder for precious items like children’s hair or anything at all. Available for £19.92.
Glass Locket Urn Pendant Necklace for Ashes
I think this glass urn pendant necklace for ashes is really pretty with it’s simplistic design. I like that it’s quite plain and not too flashy, it feels like a really classy and minimalist way to remember a loved one. It’s another affordable but beautiful piece for £19.31.
Heart Shaped Urn Pendant Necklace for Ashes
This heart shaped urn necklace doesn’t even look like memorial jewelry so you won’t have to answer any inquiries about it at a sensitive time. It looks like regular jewellery, which I’d probably want if everything was still very recent. I wouldn’t fancy explaining that I’d turned ashes into jewellery every time I wore it. It’s discreet and currently only £15.99 in the sale (although this price may chance).
Stainless Steel ‘Together Forever’ Urn Necklace for Ashes
This urn necklace does look a little more obviously like cremation jewelry, but it’s still aesthetically pleasing. I like the two crossed over rings that say ‘together forever’ in an infinity shape. Very beautiful and understated and another bargain at £11.99.
Silver & Clear Memorial Urn Necklace for Ashes
This is clear urn necklace for ashes is very similar to the one above, only this one shows off the ashes inside. Again, this might invite questions when you’re wearing it, but if you’re happy to talk about how it brings you nice memories and keeps a loved on close then there’s really no reason not to go for it. It’s a little more pricey than the other options as it’s made from real silver, but at £60.00, it’s still a good price.
Cremation Jewelry Ring
I feel like I’ve really focused on cremation necklaces, when there’s other way of turning ashes into jewellery. This beautiful ring includes the ashes in the glass stone and is handmade. Tiny amounts of ash are encased in the glass and it’s set in an adjustable ring band. I read the reviews and happy customers say that the ash twinkles in the light. This beautiful bespoke cremation jewelry is a steal at £65.00.
Lampwork Memory Beads
Similar to the ring above, these glass beads encase the ashes for a beautiful and colourful finish. I like these because you can have more than one made and even have matching beads with other family members. I think it’s a lovely idea and again, it looks like regular jewellery so doesn’t invite questions. £30.00 each available on Etsy.
Stainless Steel Blue Goldstone Locket Ashes into jewellery
This is my favourite piece of memorial jewellery. Out of all the ashes into jewellery I’ve seen, this one draws me in the most. It looks like space and reminds me of freedom and eternity, which is what death means to me. The urn is concealed so it’s another one that looks like regular jewellery and filling instructions are included. Another affordable beauty at £30.64.
