I hardly need any motivation to get out, unless it’s pouring with rain and I’ve got a decent box set to watch, but who has time for that when you’ve got a pile of ironing to do and a house to hoover? But when life becomes a bit on the busy side and you realise that you haven’t had any time to yourself in months, maybe it’s time to allow a couple of hours to look after yourself. Put the children in the charge of your partner, a relative, or even drop them off at a friend’s house and do something for yourself. It doesn’t even have to be a big thing, there are plenty of ways to recharge and spend some time by yourself.

Go For A Ride
Have you ever thought about getting on a bike and exploring? Well, the joy in finding somewhere quiet gives you that bit of time with your thoughts, or if you just get in the car, pull up to a secluded space by a beach, you could get that well-deserved nap in peace! Or if you like to exercise you can get a bicycle and go off by yourself and get a workout. You don’t have to make it a chore; you can purchase an electric scooter for cheap enough, and get out in the open, rather than get on a bicycle. But the point is to get some quality time to yourself, and going for a ride by yourself is one of life’s little pleasures.
Get Engrossed In A Book
When was the last time you read a book? Most people prefer to stare at their phones now, but there is something really lovely about getting lost in a book. Hours can fly by, and if you get totally hooked, you won’t want to put it down. The task is finding the time to sit down with a book, but go and find somewhere that’s just for you, put the kettle on and put your feet up for an hour or so. You will feel nice and recharged.
Go To The Cinema
I don’t know why, but there’s a stigma attached to going to see a film by yourself. I find it’s the only way to really enjoy a film now, so if reading isn’t your thing why don’t you go and watch something by yourself, get some sweets and get stuck into a good film. And even if the movie’s not very good, you’ve spent some time by yourself without the children. My suggestion is to go during the day!
Learn Something New
I think that we can get very stressed by the amount of work we pile on ourselves, whether this is looking after the family or doing the housework, and what’s important to you can get lost a bit. So if you learn something new, be it a language or an instrument you’re doing something that you don’t have to share, and you’re learning a new skill. It’s win-win!
