Creativity is a core thinking skill and is relied upon for problem solving, critical thinking and many more fundamental skills. We are all creative in our own sense. Whether your child’s a young Picasso or is creative in a practical way, we have a list of fun activities that you can do together and help to bring that side out.
This post is in collaboration with a London prep school.

Craft Together
Crafting is not only fun, but it helps children to use their imagination and create fresh new ideas. It engages the prefrontal cortex which is the hub for creativity. It exercises and strengthens the muscle, helping your child to become more creative and artistic. As they craft, they can also work on their fine motor skills. These are skills that are needed to co-ordinate movements in the small muscles of the body such as the hands and feet.
Online Games
If you have a gamer on your hands, they will love this one. There is a whole range that they can play to work on their creativity from online dress up games to ones that require more action and thinking fast on your feet.
Journaling
You can also help your child to be more creative by encouraging them to write. By doing something as simple as keeping a journal, children are able to explore their creative thoughts and take them a level up and explore them in more detail and create intricate plans as opposed to just thinking about them briefly for a while.
Reading
Reading teaches children more about the world and can actually help them in being creative by offering inspiration.
