Read Reviews and Ask Around
Finding out what people think about that specific model of car is essential. I find the most reliable reviews come from people who have tried something themselves (and cars are no different). I went with a car from the Ford Motor Company because they’ve got a good reputation and I’ve owned Ford cars before.
If you don’t know anyone with the make and model of car you’re considering buying, online reviews are a good place to start.
Check How Easy it is to Get Parts for Your Car
Even the most reliable cars will age and need parts to be replaced, but some car parts are easier to get hold of than others! You can buy car spares for the American car brand Ford at MOTOR-doctor.co.uk, and they’re readily available, which is another reason why I went for the car I chose.
Establish Your Needs
I have a young family and a baby on the way, so I knew I needed a car with a roomy back seat (for carseats) and space in the boot for a pram. If my family was older, I’d have probably gone for a smaller car because my needs would have been completely different. The same goes for if I had an older teenager and planned to share my car once they’d passed their tests.
If you need a lot of boot space, it’s worth looking up dimensions before making a decision.
Do Your Homework
Research the specific car you have your eye on. Some cars that are up for sale can still be under finance, which means you risk it being repossessed, even though it wasn’t your agreement! It’s also worth checking whether the car you like has previously been written off. You might want to steer clear if it’s previously been deemed un-roadworthy.
