Tween girls are notoriously difficult to buy clothes for. My daughter has hit that age category, and as a result I have found buying clothes for her to be a bit of a minefield. After a lot of asking her opinion and not making any assumptions, I think I’ve got her style sussed.
Tweens seem to still enjoy a bit of floral prettiness, with pink remaining as a dominant colour, but they also want to show off their individuality. They want to look cool and mimic the style of older girls, without doing anything too drastic to alter their look.
I think I’ve put together the perfect list of fashion tempter for tween girls this spring. With the help of Fashion World, I’ve been able to make this gorgeous wish list of kids’ fashion for spring.
7 Kids’ Spring Fashion Must-Haves
1. Boho Dress
The neutral colours of boho fashion make a boho dress a perfect staple for spring. It’ll look good against any skin tone and the flash of colour in the middle make it simultaneously girly and grown up.
This pink hoodie is cute and trendy all at once. It can be paired with a floaty dress like the one above, or jeans/leggings for a more laid back look. I love the shades of pink and white and the pattern looks pretty grown up too.
3. Mermaid Vans
I feel like there’s no need to explain the attraction of Vans with mermaids on. I’d be happy if someone got me some now and I’m 31, your tween would just melt if you got her these!
4. Distressed Denim Jeans
Here’s where the edgy bit comes in. Skinny jeans are not going anywhere and distressed denim on kids is always great (they get distressed anyway, it might as well complement the intentional distress!). To soften this look, you could pair it with the pink hoodie, or maybe a pair of…
5. Pink Adidas Trainers
Pink trainers are fun and girly. They soften anything that’s designed to be a bit more trendy and edgy for your tween. I think it bridges the gap between being a kid and a teenager and allows your child to express themselves without feeling babyish.
6. Denim Tie Top
This top can be paired with a floral skirt to keep it feminine, or you child can go full on double denim to achieve a more grown up look. The beauty of denim is it can be dressed up or down, this top would be just as stylish at a school disco as it would be at a weekend trip to the cinema.
7. Ombre Party Dress
This is my absolute favourite, I wish they did it in my size! A grown-up dress for a special occasion is a must when you’re a tween girl. The dark netting makes it look sophisticated, while the flowers and pinks keep it youthful. Perfect if there’s a wedding coming up!
