6 ways to spoil yourself when the kids have gone to bed

Summer is arguably the best part of the year, but it’s also pretty hectic and tiring! Whether you’re rushing to a beer garden after work with friends to make the most of the sunshine or you’re spending the day with the kids at the beach, trying to make them sit still while you put sun cream on them and dust off those sandy sandwiches – it’s not easy to find time for yourself.

There’s nothing better than making lots of happy memories and treating the kids to plenty of days out and ice creams before dinner, but what about treating yourself? Spoiling yourself with a couple of Rome Opera Tickets and hopping on a plane for a weekend away might sound perfect, but if you have little ones at home there are other ways you can treat yourself this month. Looking for a little inspiration? You’ve come to the right place – read on for 6 ways you can spoil yourself when the kids have gone to bed.

6 ways to spoil yourself when the kids have gone to bed

Pick up a good book

When was the last time you finished a good book? Well, summer is a great time for any avid reader or someone who’s looking to get back into reading; with plenty of new releases that are perfect for throwing into your suitcase, sitting at the park and reading while the kids play, or to enjoy after they’ve all gone to bed. Don’t worry about the laundry – it can wait.

Or try an audiobook

Perhaps you don’t think you have the time to sit and read? Well, how about giving an audiobook a try instead? Try an old favourite, or something you enjoyed as a child to ease you back in. It’s amazing how much housework and jobs you’ll get done as you listen to a soothing voice bring your favourite tales to life!

A bath

There’s nothing a long, hot soak can’t fix. So, dig out your favourite bubble bath, or even treat yourself to a set of outrageous bath bombs and have a long, hot soak. You could take your book with you, listen to your favourite songs and even spoil yourself with a glass of something nice and cold. Bliss.

Catch up on your favourite shows

If you think you can keep your eyes open, then now is the time to catch up on everything you’ve missed before you inevitably see a spoiler. Turn the lights down low, get comfy in your PJs and bring on the snacks!

Enjoy the outdoors

Sure the kids might have gone to bed, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sit out in the back yard or garden and enjoy the fresh air. It’ll make a change from having to chase them around! Enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine, and watch the stars come out. Don’t forget to take a blanket to wrap yourself up in when the temperature starts to drop.

Call someone you love

When was the last time you had a good chat with your mum? Sister? Or Grandma? Take the opportunity to make a call and have a catch up. You’ll both feel wonderful afterwards!
