5 Tips For Creating A Motivational Home Study

A home study is such an important room in your house, whether you work from home or just want a space that’s set up to help you focus and concentrate. So here are 4 tips to help you create a motivational home study.

5 Tips For Creating A Motivational Home Study

  1. Pay attention to lighting
Lighting plays such a big part in the way we feel and work, and a dark and gloomy office isn’t going to be the best for productivity. Try to make sure that you have at least some element of natural light from either a window or skylight and then incorporate a combination of ceiling, floor and desk lamps so that you can tailor the light you need to each situation. For a light that is less harsh on the eyes opt for softer golden glow lighting over bright white bulbs.

  2. Decide on a desk
A study simply wouldn’t work without a desk of some sort. You may not need something complex unless you need a workstation for 3d computer aided design, but you will want something that’s set up ergonomically to help you get work done. If you find that you tend to get uncomfortable sitting for long periods of time then maybe look into sit-stand desks to give you some options. Although minimalistic desk designs can look chicer, don’t forget about storage you may need, it may be best to have a desk with a drawer or two to keep office supplies organised.

  3. Clear away clutter
Whilst we’re talking about storage, a home office or study needs to be as clutter-free as possible. Clutter and mess can be distracting and you won’t be able to get your best work done in a space that is in turmoil. Make use of shelving, folders and boxes to keep important paperwork in its place and try to get into the habit of putting everything back in its place to keep your study tidy. A lot of things can be done online nowadays so try to scan in letters and paperwork and keep them on the cloud which will free up physical storage space.

  1. Make use of the walls
Many people use one of the smaller rooms in their house for their study which means they need to be clever with space. Make use of the walls by hanging whiteboards or a corkboard which will allow you to hang up memos and decorate your space in a way that is motivational to you. The walls are also a great place to consider putting up floating shelves, which won’t make the space feel smaller and will still providing valuable storage.

  2. Incorporate scents

Aromatherapy may not be the first tool you think of when trying to increase productivity but smell is in fact one of the strongest senses and what you smell can have a big impact on your brain. When setting up your home office or study try to incorporate a diffuser, candle or some sort of aromatherapy to ignite your creativity whenever you’re in the space.
