It’s the time of year where the very organised among us (not me) start planning gifts. Every year I find it particularly difficult to buy for the kids grandparents. When you ask them what they want, the answer is usually along the lines of, “don’t bother about me, dear.” Or something to that effect.
You see grandparents usually already have everything they want and for them, Christmas is about the kids. Present buying can be a real headscratcher.
I was recently lucky enough to be offered a photo canvas of my choice from Printerpix. I chose a photo of Greg having a whale of a time on a swing (mainly because we don’t have any photos of him on display but we have all of his sister’s school photos up so we needed to balance it out before he got a complex).
My mum cannot stop admiring admiring the canvas.
That’s when it dawned on me that I should get her a photo gift for Christmas (maybe even an identical canvas)! It suddenly made gift giving a whole lot easier. A photo of loved ones is always a great gift, especially as it’s easy to forget about owning physical photos now that everything is online.
A photo gift will make a lovely surprise!
There’s tonnes of options but the one that suited this image best was the 16×12 landscape canvas, which is 2cm thick so looks really neat. I opted for a gloss finish because I did my research and discovered it makes it easier to clean and less likely to fade.
I also went for the wall hanging kit but as I’m about to move, we decided not to add any holes to our walls, so it’s currently displayed on our fireplace until we can hang it at the new house.
As you can see, the photo quality is great. This photo was taken with my phone but be aware a minimum file size is needed to get a high quality picture. I would strongly recommend the gloss finish too, here is a close-up so you can actually see it.
It makes no difference to how the photo looks (as can be seen from the photo above) but those almost reptile-like scales offer a really durable surface that is easy to dust.
Your photo gifts needn’t end there. You can go mad and get mugs, iPad cases, and even Instagram cushion covers! That should give you a few years of easy gift giving (and in the meantime your children will grow and you can start the cycle again with more recent photos).
