These subtle ways to live your best mermaid life are the only ways to team mermaid style with your normal grown-up life, without people staring at your outlandish mermaid ways!
The mermaid trend caught on quickly and is pretty unrelenting. Mermaid blankets hit the shops first, then came the sequined backpacks, mermaid hair and pretty much all any other mermaid merch you could think of. Some of it was more overtly mermaid-y than others, but when you’re a grown up, people expect you to be a bit more subtle *sigh*.
This list involves all the ways I stealthily live my best mermaid life!
Subtle Ways to Live Your Best Mermaid Life
Start the day right
Drink your morning coffee from this lush Mermaid Hair, Don’t Care mug. It’s definitely grown-up enough, because only grown ups drink coffee! I suppose it also makes a nice gift for someone else, but why give it away when you can keep such a beautiful product!
Get the look
I love this Mermaids vs Unicorns palette so much it’s ridiculous. It has light and dark shades, as well as bright and subtle, so you really can create a look for any occasion. It’s currently on offer for £4 so you’d be totally foolish to miss out!
Here I am living my best mermaid life with a look I’ve created with this palette.
I’m also claiming this photo as two more subtle ways to live your best mermaid life, first you’ll notice the fishtail plait and I’m sure by now you’ve noticed my opalescent lippie! The lipstick is actually lipgloss from Amazon (less than £3 and it stays on!) If you’re not great at hair, search YouTube for a far better fishtail than mine!
Barry M are my go-to budget nail paint people. They’re cheap and cheerful and usually have have a 3 for 2 offer on their colours. The shades are really striking compared to other brands around that price, but you do need 2-3 coats. I’ve heard people complain they chip easily but I always use a strong top coat and haven’t had any problems, so maybe that’s the answer? You might also like to read about these nail trends.
Mermaid makeup brushes
Spectrum are well-known for their high quality brushes. They do a mermaid range, but I think their traditional range is mermaid-y enough if I’m honest! Pinks, blues, under the sea hues, what’s more mermaidish than that? Their normal range is a bit cheaper too. (If you’re a boyfriend/husband reading this and buying the brushes as a gift, definitely splash out and get the mermaid gift set, the mermaidiness of these brushes is still pretty subtle and your lady-friend will probably want the case they come in!)
Mermaid hair ties
If your mermaid hair keeps falling in your mermaid eyes (or you want something to secure your fishtail plait with) then these grown-up mermaid hair ties are for you! They’re £1.49 plus £1 P&P which I think we can all agree is frankly ridiculous (I’d pay at least £4 for these!) so get them while there’s still some left!
