Having children means that when it comes to interiors, my furnishing need to be stylish and practical. We’re big fans of faux leather furniture in our house. We’ve had fabric furniture in the past, but faux leather furniture wins every time for us.
Why choose faux leather furniture?
One of the main selling points for us was that faux leather furniture is wipe-clean. We have a toddler who is very messy, and fabric just lacks durability. It stains easily, it can discolour quickly, spills can take an age to dry. Fabric just isn’t that child friendly. Who am I kidding? Fabric furniture isn’t all that me friendly either!
Faux leather furniture generally will go with whatever interior style your home is rocking. If you’re minimalist, monochrome faux leather is for you (black is timeless, but white has that je nais se quoi). If you’re into your hipster vintage, you need a brown or tan Chesterfield sofa with a granny square crochet throw. If you’re all about the comfort, a faux leather recliner chair might be for you.
Whatever your style, you’ll be able to enjoy the low maintenance care that faux leather furniture requires, as well as the knowledge that no animals were hurt in the production of your sofa or chairs.
Time to #GoFaux
Fenetic Wellbeing want to get you thinking about the pros of faux leather furniture (over those of real leather or fabric) with their #GoFaux campaign. I wanted to join in and help them spread the word because I always #GoFaux.
We’re a family of animal-lovers, so we try and go for cruelty free purchases wherever we can. We also find the durability of faux leather fits our lifestyle well (I also have a 9-year-old who was the resident mess-maker before her brother came along).
The best thing about faux leather furniture is that most of it is timeless and will survive several round of decorating your lounge. Even if your interiors taste takes a massive style U-turn, your furniture will usually fit in with your home’s new look.
What do you love about going faux?
