You might also want to help that soaking in process even further with an aerator. This handy little device can be rolled all over your lawn to make a series of small holes, allowing water to find its way into the soil.
A simple lawn feed solution from your nearest garden centre will also help to keep grass green for longer and weed free.
The Longer Version
Rather than constant mowing, how about letting your grass grow a little and create a meadow effect? As well as being lower maintenance you’ll also have the added bonus of attracting native insects, including bees and butterflies, into your garden, creating a buzzing haven of tranquility.
Sow some meadow flowers that thrive in these conditions and you’ll have a riot of colour to go with your look. All you’ll need to do is to trim the grass when it becomes too long and do some weeding now and again.
The Easy Version
Finally, there’s artificial grass, no longer to be found exclusively on football pitches there are some exceptionally high quality versions that look so close to real grass and will give your New Lawn just the right feel and colour.
Get some test samples sent to you and you’ll be able to choose not only the length but the colour and tone too.
Easy to maintain, all you’ll need to do is hose away any fallen leaves or mud every now and again to keep it in pristine condition.
