Since CBD oil has been readily available to buy in the UK like from Zamnesia, it’s been big news. Although some people still think of it as a controversial remedy due to its links to the cannabis plant, many more people are thankful that they’ve discovered it.
So what is CBD oil exactly?
CBD oil is a useful oil derived from the cannabis plant, but unlike illegal cannabis, it doesn’t get you high. The oil is available in many forms: creams, tablets, serums, vapes, ointments and of course, oil!

What do People Use CBD oil for?
Because CBD oil is so versatile, it can be used to treat all sorts of conditions. It’s known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with arthritic pain and skin flare ups, but some people have found it to help ease lots of other conditions too.
Skincare

This is the area I’m most interested in. I get rosacea flare-ups from time to time and have been reading up on the best CBD face cream to go for. I’m still undecided whether I need to get a face cream or replace my whole skincare routine to help calm my skin, but I’m going to buy a few bits to try. A beauty blogger I follow on Instagram found that it really helped calm her acne, which I think is a good sign!
To reduce anxiety
In recent years, CBD products have become widely used as an anti-anxiety remedy. It’s been claimed that a few drops of the oil can calm the user quickly in times of need. Some studies suggest that this might be because some of the active ingredients in it can help the brain produce the happy hormone and relax the user quicker than some pharmaceutical drugs.
Anecdotally, my friend has been taking some CBD gummies daily to ease her anxiety and she says it really helps. So much so, that she recommends it to everyone! She also has PCOS and says it helps with period pains too, which bring me onto my next point…
To relieve pain
The same friend mentioned above swears by this remedy for anxiety and pain relief and has even got her mum into using CBD infused e-liquid for vaping! Her mum has arthritis and believes that this helps with the pain.

Holland & Barrett also do a CBD muscle balm which is supposed to be great for athletes with muscle pain.
For glossy hair
As well as giving you glowing skin, CBD oil for hair is supposed to give you a glossy mane by nourishing dry ends. Apply directly to hair and work through ends until evenly spread, for luscious locks.
Will CBD oil work for you?

This one is difficult to answer. Although anecdotally, the people I know who have used it for various things have found it to help with their symptoms, it’s important to remember everyone is different and may react in different ways. When I’ve researched the oil (mostly in a skincare setting) all the info out there says it can help, not that it will for everyone.
My personal opinion is that it’s worth a try. I’m looking for the best CBD oil-based skincare for myself before I fork over my cash, but I’ve got plans to give it a try in the hope it’ll help me, when other products haven’t really worked. So far I’ve only managed to conceal my rosacea, rather than calm any flare-ups. Obviously I’ll let you all know how that goes.
As with any remedies that are self-prescribed, my advice is to always do your research, and make your decisions based on that. Let me know how you get on!
