Greg has been really in to building things lately, so when we were sent the Flexistix Eiffel Tower kit by Hape, Greg was delighted!
The Flexistix Eiffel Tower kit is for age 4+, but Greg is 4 and needed some help, so the younger ones will need an adult’s helping hand to build it. The instructions were easy enough to understand, I just needed to guide Greg with where to join things.
The kit contains lots of pieces that look quite similar, so although Greg helped with sorted them into like-piles, I needed to check what he was doing and guide him.
He gained confidence quickly while we were assembling it, and soon wanted to work alone (even though I still had to tell him what went where).
This was a really great kit to get my son to concentrate, he’s usually a bit of a whirlwind, so it was lovely to see him get caught up in a building something that requires patience.
At first it’s a bit confusing to look at, because you make the middle bit to begin with. I’d have expected to build it from the ground up, but as you continue to build, it makes a lot of structural sense to build the middle first.
We had a few teething troubles where some of the sticks were connected in the wrong places, but it was easy to spot and easy to correct.
Greg was pretty pleased with himself and the end result and our Eiffel Tower has become a prop in his car games. When the school holiday is over, I’ll take it down and put it away for him to assemble another day.
He really loved assembling his Flexistic Eiffel Tower by Hape, and I’m going to look into what other kits they make since this one went down so well! I couldn’t believe how well he sat and worked on constructing it. I was very glad of the quiet!
