It’s no secret that I’m a bit obsessed with fashion and beauty. I think my blog really gives it away that I like to try and look nice but I don’t like to spend excessive amounts of money. My makeup recommendations are affordable brands and dupes of expensive things I’ll never be able to afford to buy!
In case you wonder how I keep on top of keeping my spending low without missing out, these are my top tips:
Seek out a deal
Follow every big money saving page on Facebook, browse websites like MSE, and keep your ear to the ground on new apps that do the deal hunting for you, like Sello. Sello has hundreds of different online coupons to help you find great deals and never pay full price again.
Cashback sites are also good if you can’t find a coupon to reduce cost, you can sometimes receive some of that money back in your account. Basically, don’t buy anything until you’ve checked if you can get money off or money back!
Play Swapsies
Makeup lovers have been doing this for years. They’ll drop a load of money on a new high-end palette, then find they don’t like the colours as much as they expected, and after having briefly tried it, they are unable to return it, so they offer to swap it. Usually friends will do this, but there are loads of makeup groups on Facebook where women are looking for swaps of equal value. If you’ve found yourself out of pocket because you’ve spent money on makeup you don’t like, ask your friends or join a group to swap what you’ve got for something you like better.
Clothes can be great to swap too. Slimming clubs in our town do swishing events, where people bring in unwanted clothes and swap them for other people’s donations. It’s a fab way to freshen up your wardrobe without spending a penny!
Become queen of vintage
Why buy new when you can get something beautiful and vintage? I’ve had some amazing finds in charity shops over the years and it’s always been things that are much cheaper (and much better) than new styles in the shops. The best thing about vintage is that no one else will be wearing the same as you, so there’s minimal chance of accidentally matching someone when you’re out and about. Accessorise to either fit in with the decade the clothes are from, or bring the outfit bang up to date. Cruise charity shops over vintage shops to get the best deal!
