Hatchimals Hatchibabies Review & Hatching – Come and See What I Got!

Since their launch, Hatchimals have been the Christmas gift at the top of every child’s letter to Santa. I’m expecting this year to be no different, especially since there’s a new egg in town.

Hatchibabies are joining the Hatchifamily this year!

We have been lucky enough to receive our very own Hatchibaby to love, care for, and play with so that we could write this review.

Two new species have been added to the Hatchifamily, and we were excited to see what we were going to get and whether it would be a girl or a boy.

My son was convinced we’d get a boy, while my daughter was adamant it sounded like there was a girl inside.

Luckily, we didn’t have to wait very long! After pulling out the little tags from under the egg, both children paid it a lot of attention to help encourage it to hatch. They tapped, they chatted, they hugged and they rubbed the egg. Eventually it started to hatch!

Both kids were really EGGcited by this point and couldn’t wait to see what was inside. The Hatchibabies come in two new species – Ponette and Cheetree (as well as some other exclusive characters) so we were eager to see who we’d get.

A little scroll of paper inside the egg let us know we were the proud parents of a Hatchiboy!

Before the egg hatched, we had plenty of fun while we waited for our Hatchibaby to be ready. He rocked and made some really cute noises. The kids took it in turns to hug and kiss the egg (kissing is probably not necessary). We loved that when we tapped, he tapped back the same number of times. We think we’ve got a very clever Hatchibaby.

When our Hatchimal Hatchibaby was ready to hatch, his eyes turned rainbow to let us know it was time to rub the egg and encourage him out! Once our Hatchibaby begun to burst out, we had to give him a helping hand by lifting away the pieces of broken shell so he could be fully lifted out.

The came with his own accessories to help his new family care for him, as well as the scroll that tells us whether he’s a girl or a boy. These were hidden away in the sealed secret compartments in the picture below.

Inside the sealed compartments are the Hatchibaby’s accessories, and the blue container is actually a high chair for your Hatchibaby.

The accessories we got were a cuddle buddy, a hair brush, a rattle and a bottle.

Playing with Your Hatchibaby after Hatching

Each accessory makes your Hatchibaby respond in different ways, so make sure you read the instructions to see how to use them (different species might have different accessories).

You can feed your Hatchibaby using the bottle included. Wait for its eyes to go purple so that you know your Hatchibaby is hungry then press the bottle into his mouth and press down. Your Hatchibaby is a bit like a real baby and can get gassy after a feed, so if you Hatchibaby’s eyes turn orange, you might need to pat them on the back and burp them.

The rattle makes your Hatchibaby dance, just make sure the ‘H’ is facing you.

Once you’ve mastered playing with the accessories, you can play other fun games with your hatchimal like peek-a-boo, animal colours and teaching them to talk.

They even have a Hatchibaby secret trick!

You Hatchimal Hatchibaby has sensors on the front and back of his head, which is how you unlock the secret trick. Rest your fingers on the back of your Hatchibaby’s head until its eyes turn purple. Then tap the sensors on he back and front of the head twice and your Hatchibaby will perform their secret trick. What we thought of the Hatchimals Hatchibaby

We thought it was EGGcellent! We were really excited while we were waiting for the egg to hatch, I was worried it might drag but there was so much to do I thought it was really lovely. Once hatched, I thought our Hatchimal was very cute.

I was surprised by how much there was do to with the Hatchimal and he’s proven really popular with both of my kids and  think they’ll continue to be entertained by him for a good while yet.
