I was disappointed when I realised it was a dupe for the huda Beauty palette - close up of the palette

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette Dupe for UNDER £10!

I never really bother with makeup dupes; in my experience they don’t live up to the hype, or they look good going on but the quality is bad so they have no staying power. In the past I’ve gone for all sorts of lip or eye dupes, only to be disappointed, so I stopped looking.

I accepted I’d have to either fork out the big price tag (which I almost NEVER do) or live without it and buy something that wasn’t the same but whose quality I trusted.

That was, until I accidentally bought a dupe and fell in love.

Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette Dupe from Amazon of all places

It didn’t even register that it was dupe when I bought it. I chose it because I thought the colours were gorgeous, it was only when it arrived that I thought it looked familiar.

When I realised it was a budget dupe for Huda Beauty’s Rose Gold palette, I was actually a little gutted. I thought it might be a bit rubbish because it was trying to be something it wasn’t, rather than just a palette in its own right.

The Huda Beauty Palette Rose Gold edition is about £55, so I’m probably never going to own that unless I’m suddenly rich and have already bought a decent sized house and a car that works. This is why people go for dupes. This pretty palette will set you back about £9, which is a much sweeter price tag.

If you click the pic below it’ll take you to Amazon, this palette is ‘option2′

The palette is actually far better than I expected. The foiled shads (the shiny ones in the photo) are buttery in texture and easy to apply. They blend well and last without fading or smudging off, which surprised me. The ‘Eden’ shade is a bit crap though. It doesn’t apply well at all and you can’t see it, but that’s only one shade out of 18, so not terrible!

I created this look with the Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette Dupe

The matte shades aren’t too chalky and are smooth to apply and the shimmer shades are wonderfully velvetty. I had a lot of fun playing with the colours. They’re lovely warm tones and I think the selection of shades makes it possible to create some really pretty looks.

Have you tried any makeup dupes? Can you recommend any?

  1. The Lacura Hot Cloth Cleaner from Aldi is a fantastic dupe of the Liz Earle one. It works great on my dry/sensitive skin. Leaves my skin soft and clean.
The primark makeup range is fantastic too such as the eyeshadow palettes.

  2. It’s not a makeup dupe, but Superdrug’s Layering Labs Blossom costs £3.50 and smells the exact same as Thierry Mugler’s Alien

  3. I’m not sure if I have but I like the look of the palette in your blog post and may have to purchase this x

  4. Margaret Gallagher

I’ve seen loads of dupes but never tried them – my teenage neices love them as they are much cheaper
    May convert myself soon

  5. Primark have a lot of dupes of huda beauty, too faced, Kylie cosmetics & Naked palletes. Also, the Sleek makeup contour pallete is very good dupe to Anastasia Beverley hills pro series contour kit! Defo worth checking out!

  6. I’ve never tried make-up dupes as I worry about what the ingredients are – you hear scare stories about rat droppings and unsafe chemicals in products made in china. However, I’ve tried the Lacura skincare range and am converted and no longer buy more expensive brnads.

I have never used any dupes as was hesitant re the quality, but I’m definitely going to visit this site on Amazon and take a visit to Primark to check out the palettes.

  8. I love the E.L.F. Precision Eyeliner, it’s the perfect dupe to my favourite Bobbi Brown long wear liquid liner. It is so long lasting, and creates real precision lines, I’ve never looked back and save so much money!
